Match 3, game 4b

Chris Townsend's (ursa major) Berber (Almohad) defeats DocVanNostrand's (Comites) Portuguese 61 to 51.

The score is representative of the close contest, which is exemplified by the Berbers having 3 fragmented units at the end to only one for the Portuguese.

Most of the Portuguese knights avoided my camels, and eventually destroyed my muslim spear and archers, but not before the archers had assisted in the destruction of much of the Portuguese spear. On the other side, Berber and irregulars and javelins eventually over came the Poruguese archers and crossbows, but only after taking significant casualties themselves.

Round 2, Match 3 (ursa major v comites)

2b - principes romanes (Roman 105-25 BC) defeats Ironclad (Pontic 84-47 BC) 46-18

2a - principes romanes (Pontic 84-47 BC) defeats Ironclad (Roman 105-25 BC) 60-41

Both army compositions were about as expected, with the Romans of course bringing their elephant in the hopes of countering the Pontic cavalry. In the battle my Romans won, the elephant managed to (eventually) engage the sole Pontic cataphract that had gotten bogged down already in a melee. The victorious elephant may then have found a few flanks.

In the mirror, my Pontic infantry managed to flank the Roman elephant early, taking it out of the equation. The numerous Roman lights did, however, cause problems for my cavalry that managed to flank the Roman line. It was, in the end, more infantry flanking that broke the veteran Roman legions than cavalry action.

I have a screenshot showing the last turn made by me was on 9th October. I am not sure how I can paste this in the forum though. I also have a screenshot showing the score in one game was 43 to 11 in my favour and I believe the other one was something like 37 to 2.

Given that we have done 9 turns since then, I don't see my 2 day delay at the start of the game is relevant. In any case I sent Python Magus a PM on here on 2nd October to say I was away and unable to do my turns until Saturday 4th. I did my turns as soon as I got back on the 4th and since then have done them timeously.
