Close match which saw spearmen and legionaries clash on the left while more mobile units battled on the right. Carthaginians defeated most of the Roman cavalry after a tough fight while the legionaries and Carthaginian spearmen fought each other to a standstill - Legionaries threatened to break the line with initial success but the Carthaginian units who remained dug in and had to rely on autobreaks to keep the Romans in check.
