Division A
oscarius Samnite 355-272 + Gallic 300-101 allies beats Aetius39 Spartan 680-461
63 - 41
My final game for the tournament and my best result yet in the A Division (which I usually creep into out of B Div and then get demolished in).
Both of us produced an infantry-heavy force in a classic impact foot vs offensive spear showdown on an open flat map. My opponent deployed deep what caused me to scramble to get my wide line in order. My opponent also had to reckon with my superior cavalry force what immediately made moves to get deep into the rear. Neither of us spent much on light units.
A gruelling infantry clash ensured that didn't see me get a clear edge until quite late into the game. Both forces fought stubbornly with the hoplites largely surviving the painful first turn against the Italic and Gallic impacts (albeit at high casualties). My slight numerical superiority eventually paid off and I was able to crumple the Spartan left with nary a turn to spear as my right began to fail. Even if they failed in producing a serious envelopment my affordable average cavalry did a good job in pinning down the hoplite reserves. Many units fought for turn after turn and until auto-break but the tide slowly turned in favour of the Samnites. I see no mistakes made by either of us so I must thank the dice.
Well-played and can't wait for the next TDC. Thanks to the organisers and my opponents for the great games.

Grahamed Arab defeated Angusosborne Roman 24 BC - 196 AD + Sarmatian 25/54 (29%)
The Arab infantry quaking at the sight of the legions of Rome managed to ascend a hill and cower with their archers behind them. To the infantries left a few cavalry pushed forward , sloping back into a wood as Romes allies pushed forward, then the Roman/Sarmation cavalry took a steady peppering from the enemy archers, the enemy Elephants infantry and cavalry made headway and the cavalry hiding in the woods leapt out, overwhelming the Roman support troops, cruelly some of the cavalry got charged from behind flank by Elephants, they fought bravely but hopelessly.
On the hill the legions pressed forward, charging stoically up the hill, grinding through the arab infantry and archers. A more even cavalry battle ensued on the Arabs right with the cataphracts swinging some of the uneven infantry battle the Arabs way. Eventually the Arab wings pushed through and charged From the flanks and rear even the mighty legionaries could not win through.
A hard fought game, close, very close until the very end.
Thanks
This concludes all my games. Another enjoyable competition, my thanks to the organisers

Mejobo's Mycenaeans defeat OmegaOm's Babylonians 48-14
A frantic battle that swung quickly. Seemed like a swarming charge of infantry, chariots, and skirmishers just swept over the outnumbered Babylonian camelry and infantry. Their heavy chariots held up well and ended up scoring some considerable wins at the end as they defeated some foes and then outflanked others, but it was too little to late.

Two results
Triarii Danish 1488-1500 w German Fuedal1490-1500
defeats
carpenkm Papal 1440 - 1500 + Neopolitan Score 42-5
Probably a result reflecting the fact that Keils mistaken for Pikes came as a very nasty shock to dismounted Papal Men at Arms (see next spec-savers advert).
Triarii Danish 1488-1500 w German Fuedal1490-1500
defeats
ulysisgrunt French 1484-1500 Score 46-9
Deployment was an undeserved bonus for the Danish. Massed French artillery and Longbows (who can't evade) faced all the Danish foot and allied Keils. Meanwhile the Swiss Pikemen and French Men at Arms faced mounted Xb and handgunners who can and did evade.
