Repeat playability?
Hi all. I have been following this game for quite awhile. It looks terrific! I do have a couple of questions. First, about the gameplay. Is this game primarily designed to be a multi-player game, or single player? In the single player mode, will there be scripted missions, or will there be a randomi...

I'm using the PS3 version of the game and cannot access any of the battle cards beyond the intial two. I'm well into the campaign and have many cards supposedly available but I think I must have tried every combination of buttons possible to access them - all to no avail. Is this a bug? Any ideas? ...

Brilliant game!
I installed this game earlier this evening, and played through the tutorial campaign, and now, into the English campaign. This is a brilliantly conceived, and executed game. I am very, very pleased with the production values, and quality of gameplay. If you are lurking here on the board, trying to m...

I think Slitherine's start lower then hike the price strategy is a good one, I think. The 'standard' for computer games of all stamps, including wargames, seems to be to rush out a more or less broken product and sell it for top dollar. Then to gradually reduce the price as the game is fixed until ...

By not purchasing this game, you aren't significanty hurting Slitherine...but what you are doing is not getting the finest game of its kind currently on the market. I just spent about $60 on a TON of source books for ancient battles...and I have no clue as to how many hours I will spend researching ...

Re: What about campaigns ?
Are developpers planning to offer a solo or MP campaign ? A couple of thoughts here: 1) If you lose 30% of your forces, how would these be made up for the next scenario? Would you be allowed a certain number of rebuild points? 2) Assuming rebuild points are available, at what rate would they be? If...

I would love to see a proper Napoleonic mod, with artillery. I am having such fun with this game. I have probably spent more time developing new scenarios than actually playing the game. ...and no, I am not ready to spring them upon the rest of you, as this is serious business...with proper research...

I would like to recommend an additional column of data for the ranking system...one that I believe would be a better measure of the quality of play than simple wins or losses, or even a won-loss percentage. It would be trivial to have a ratio between casualties taken, and given. For example, 200,000...

Tabletop Rules Book
Well, I took the plunge. I have called my local gaming supply store, and ordered the hardcover book of rules. It won't come in for a week or two. My basic question is that will the book have sufficient content to allow me to understand this gaming system better, and to make me a better player? I am ...

Re: Rankings
Ranking is the key to maintaining interest here I believe or at least one of them. Mike A major charge against FOG is that it caters too much to tournament players. My interest is in creative recreation rather than competition. What I or my friends or family play should be our own affair unless in ...

Thanks for all these answers and commentaries. I don't disagree indeed. High variability of combat results is certainly something to keep in mind in FoG game. It is puzzling though for the newbie, like me, who try to master the use of each unit type, and observe that the result of certain combat is...

The rankings are based on single player as we don't have a system yet to deal with the asynchronous multiplayer results reporting. It will come it's not as easy as it sounds though :) Well, when you get a ranking system, just tack me on the bottom. This will save you the trouble of doing the analys...

The variation is required to avoid one troop type always winning and it becoming dull, or chess like as mentioned above. The idea is that once things start to go wrong they go badly wrong. I watched the first scenario played out between the Romans and the Gallic army perhaps a half-dozen times. I s...
