I do not underestimate the effect of +1 o the bell curve. In fact you underestimate the difference incurred by the representation of bases from table to pc!

Typically units on the table will number 4-12 bases. The full range being 2-12 of course.

If you want to bring things in line with that table then really you need to grant a universal +2 to anarchy checks.

I agree with rbs. There is a difference between bugged anarchy and the incidence of anarchy. I've explained elsewhere why I think the incidence is approximately 3x too high compared to the tabletop due to the fact a pc counter represents 2-3 bases whereas a tabletop formation contains 2-12 bases ...

All my tests (see above postings) were done under 2.6

No battle plans, no maneuver, no cunning tactics, not trying to use terrain to your advantage, not defending a position or doing a holding action on one side of the battlefield and attacking at another, not trying the get aroudn the flanks...

Grumbly's propoganda is much better than mine. I spent ages looking for his units that had surrounded me and all I saw was routing light foot and a couple of cavalry skulking behind some rocky outcrops hoping they wouldn't be noticed.

There's definitely a difference equating to a +1 on the dice. that might equate to re-rolling 1s... hmm...

10/36 chance of failing as drilled in command. Failures with possible rerolls are 7 of those 10.

Run three times, 8 anarchied each time or 16%, approximately 2/3 as much as average pikes did. I presume therefore that quality does apply to anarchy tests.

I find there are quite a few maps that allow archers to use terrain, either to hold the main line or to work one or other flank. Even a hill can make the difference (and steep hills even better).

I'm going to run a test fight tomorrow and see what happens and then what difference adding terrain ...
