Re: Sengoku Jidai - The question of control
Coincidentally I'd just posted the comment (below) in the main Sengoku forum before seeing this. I really like the P&S control system, but dislike the introduction of generals, sub-generals, allies etc. in Sengoku: "I know I'm going to get slaughtered for this, but after playing loads of Se...

Command & Control
I know I'm going to get slaughtered for this, but after playing loads of Sengoku Jidai over the past fortnight I have to say that I don't really like the new command and control system - i.e. generals with specific units under them, and all that that entails. Of course, I recognise that this has bee...

Re: Problem moving C in C
OK Richard, you and Jomni clearly know what you're talking about so if the whole thing's intentional then fair enough, bizarre as it still appears to me (in my ignorance)... :? But if that's the case then I'd suggest there maybe needs to be a tweak to the random algorithm for assignment of C-in-C to...

Re: Problem moving C in C
Well the more I've looked at this the more it looks like an issue with C-in-C transfers generally. Of course if you have a Honjin then the CC is located with that for the duration of the battle. But so far when I've tried moving the C-in-C from an allocated field unit to another unit in any army, I'...

Re: Problem moving C in C
Hi Richard & Jomni, I appreciate the clarifications, especially as regards the random nature of C-in-C placement. However, I wonder if the randomization should include certain rational limits? I can't see that there is any situation where a C-in-C would lead a group of peasants - defined in-game...

Re: Problem moving C in C
Yes, I realise that... But why would the AI designate ALL the units in my army as 'ally' units in the first place? That doesn't make any sense, does it?rbodleyscott wrote:You can't move the C-in-C to a unit that belongs to an ally general. It looks like your C-in-C is something of a token figurehead

Problem moving C in C
Hi, First of all, thanks for a wonderful game! Now, I'm having a problem with a Skirmish game. I've selected an Ikko Ikki army, and my Commander in Chief has been automatically allocated to a unit of raw peasants. When I try to move him to a different unit, every time I try I get a message telling m...

Re: Terrain Colors - All or Just for Snow?
In an aesthetic sense I rather like the look, but I have to admit that I find it more difficult on the eyes than P&S has been. Mostly though I'm still just 'over the moon' (to use a football cliche) that we've got such a terrific game covering this period and theatre of war - if I lose what rema...

Modding Map Generation?
Hi chaps, Further to my question on the main forum about creating more 'open' battlefield maps in Skirmish mode, i.e. battlefields with fewer terrain features, I'm wondering whether this is something that I could do myself... This leads to a couple of basic questions: i) Are the Skirmish battlefield...

Re: New Terrain Type - A Request!
No fundamental objection. Just finding the time to script and test it is the issue. Other projects (using the same basic engine) are taking up the available time. We do have a Steppe algorithm, but that is probably a bit too light on terrain. Thanks for taking the time to reply Richard, much apprec...

New Terrain Type - A Request!
Hi folks, I know there's been some discussion on this quite a long time back, which I think ended with RBS saying that things would remain as they currently are. But I want to make a plea - once again - for an option to be added in to the Skirmish terrain builder alongside the current ones (Hilly, A...

Re: The future of FoG
I'll give a damn, Voskarp. Not because I play it any more, which I don't (on account of the lousy AI); rather because it's the longest running saga since the period of history it's supposed to cover ;o)

We are however, working on using a similar system for earlier periods, using Slitherine's new ARCHON engine, which allows many enhancements.
