Re: Field of Glory goes 2.0 !

If sold on-line only through the FoG Shop then distribution costs can be kept low. How does that look ?? To me? BAD! I'd have to pay overpriced shipping (something like US$40) plus abusive custom duties (a total of 30% over the product price PLUS shipping costs), which would cost almost double than...

Re: Field of Glory goes 2.0 !

However, we have also listened to what you have said and we are now investigating as quickly as we can a method of providing access to a “paper” version as well. We are committed to finding a solution to this and there are various alternatives that we are looking into to assess cost and time scales...

Re: The Future is coming!!! FOG v2

I'd agree with you if Slitherine had chosen the PDF path, but they haven't. Instead they decided to launch an app which runs on selected platforms (iPad, PC and Mac), restricting their target audience enormously. As it has already been said in other posts, this may be the future of wargaming, but th...

I'm also considering an Android tablet to go with my phone, but at least initially the app will only be available on iPad, PC an Mac, so no Android support for the time being :(

Speak for yourself there, here netbooks go for no less than $300, and the cheapest iPads go for $550

Re: Any news of V2

Seems a bit odd. A physical game with rules that can't be made physical. Yeah, nice paradox there... I still think protected PDF's should have been the way to go, as there is another problem with most digital formats: page numbers. Let's take a look at the Kindle format, for example. The Kindle boo...

Re: Any news of V2

Well, as I've mentioned in other threads, I am quite in favor of an electronic distribution myself, it's the chosen platform I have a problem with. I mean, why not release it as a PDF book, as many others have done? It has all of the 3 advantages you mention in your post, as the current RPG market h...

Re: Field of Glory goes 2.0 !

OK, put simply - IMHO there MUST be a prinable version in all current popular Windows formats. A digital only FOG AM will lead to it's demise as a popular ancients rule set. I'll print each screen shot if I must... but I think you are right - if it ends up on Windows & MAC there is really no wa...

Re: Field of Glory goes 2.0 !

I can understand Slitherine's decision of taking FoG to the digital realm, as every day more and more people has access to some form of "digital reading platform", in the form of netbooks, e-readers, tablets, smartphones... you name it. What I can't get my head around on is why making a pl...

we are literally finalising an announcement as I type, I am sure you will be pleased and hopefully think that the long wait and the new direction is as exciting, as all of the effort to make it happen...cryptic or what :-) Sounds like free stuff to me! :D Hopefully a free army lists book with the p...

Re: MU effects across scales

I play with 25mm scale using 40mm MU on a standard 6' x 4' table (650 pts max) and it works quite right. I played once using 1" MU and, as you point it out, command and control is quite less effective. I'm actually considering buying a table tennis table (roughly 9' x 5') to play bigger games. ...

Re: No download link received

Thanks, Iain. IIRC, the payment was delayed a bit, but when it was finally approved, the links didn't show up. I'll forward you the payment confirmation mail I received from Paypal, hope that helps. :)

EDIT: Problem solved! Thank you very much, guys, now I'm off to play!

[SOLVED] No download link received

Hey, guys!

I recently bought the download version of both Spartan and Gates of Troy two days ago, and the Paypal payment was approved, but I never received any download link for the games. What can I do now to download the games?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Ebook version for FoG V2?

Well this is a very complex subject, but from my perspective, I think this is possibly the best way to go. Not because of the updating possibility (which I think it's a big plus), but because of the wider potential customers. Here in Chile NO ONE sells FoG books (or any other historical wargame book...

Hola!

Hey! I'm painting my own Mid Republican Roman based on what I think every rank had access to. First, the tunics: - Hastati & Velites: White or Ivory. These guys had very little resources, so I don't think they would be expending too much on dying their clothes, so they would be regular, natural ...
