Hi I thought if you had armoured pike in a mixed BG then the whole BG counted as armoured v shooting help reducing the effectiveness of bows?

Ottoman success
Hi the Ottomans were successful in that they had the strategic offensive but often fought in the tactical defensive. The cavalry were used to scout and screen the army with masses of pioneers etc to help at sieges. I guess at FOG you leave the cavalry behind, just assuming they are encircling your o...

Bunduqchis basing
Hi
For Indian warriors armed with firearms I am tempted to base in 15mm 3 per base . In DBR they would be 4 per base but if I could get away with 3 per base it would save me quite a bit if I bought them painted. But would it look terrible?

Rajputs and bunduqchis
Reading Hindu Indian list it says vijayanagar and others except Rajputs can field bunduqchis. This implies Rajputs can't field them but I'm pretty sure there was a famous siege of a Rajput fort by the mughals where the Rajputs had Muslim bunduqchis mercenaries , not allies, who pretended that their ...

Drilled bow different in PC than TT?
Hi in the PC version drilled MF archers seem to be able to do a retreat then turn back manoeuvre but they can't do this in the table top version or am I wrong?

5 shot 1 pike BG
Hi looking at the book the pike is in back rank in the middle
How does it work? Does the owner move the pike to front rank if contact with mounted troops or melee foot imminent to protect the front rank muskets? Or do they move forward in the melee phase?

Mughal list
Nellies in fog REN look vulnerable. Historically from 16th cen I think they were kept as a reserve used against penetrating cavalry or in shock role. In Afghanistan in one battle they were used to push back mounted archers to clear a path in a valley.

Artillery...because I'm worth it?
Yeah bit worried if arty is worth it. Would be a quarter of my points including FFs and obligatory light arty. Can't even afford to do a "Bod" and buy two sets of FFs so opponent doesn't know where the big guns will deploy. For a quarter of the points the big guns better be Mjolnir and onl...

Mughal list suggestions
Hi Designing a Mughal list and other posts say FOG REN is all about winning the central infantry battle and you can get away with small cavalry forces. So minimum 3 BGs 4 sup cavalry, 2 light arty stands, 4 BGs 6 avge archers 2 BGs avge arquebusiers Now I was initially getting 6 heavy arty in 2 BGs ...

Ideal list continued
Sorry iPad went funny
To continue my point, Hindu and Muslim Indian have limited med or heavy arty but more light arty
Mughals have nellies guns and options to take bows which can be poor. However you also have to take minimumsof arquebusiers and light arty and expensive cavalry

I was very happy to hear that a computer version (new engine) of the Fields of Glory: Ren is being heavily considered. Glad to hear that the team is willing to invest in new program code and get it right. I like that period a lot and the books they out for REN are great. Hi where's the news about t...

Cavalry formation
Hi
For cavalry against cavalry or plain horse is there any combat advantage to a two by two column against a four base line? Is it in the impact phase only? Do column if they charge first get to avoid overlap on on both flanks by charging to hit one end of the line?

best Indian list
Hi but like DBR say for Britcon 800 points in my head I can only figure about 4cavalry units plus the rest I have to spend on foot troops and artillery. The temptation is to go for wall of crap infantry and sit tight behind a big ol arty battery. Tempted to avoid FFs and have med arty so they can pi...

best Indian list
I wonder if , like in DBR, the best list for low points max competitions is the Muslim Indian list or even Mahratta list rather than the Mughal list. the Muslim indian list does not oblige you to buy arquebusiers plus heavy /medium arty plus light arty if you want any of these as the Mughal list doe...

Ottoman carbine cavalry
Hi is it worth taking the carbine option? Less chance of hitting but get the death roll gunpowder effect. Their range is one inch shorter than bow so compared to bow if shooting at max ranges and evading horse or cavalry or det horse there is a higher chance of being caught. Average facing average a...
