n00b basing questions

What do people use to stick their 15mm figures to the bases, superglue or something else? Is it best to stick the model on first and then start flocking the base?

Painting LRR auxillaries

I'm okay with colour schemes for my legionaries but I'm a little unsure about what colours to be painting my auxillaries. I have Gallic Cavalry, Numidian & Thracian LH, Illrian Foot, Numidian Slingers and Cretan Archers. Can anyone help with any of those?

And we're back with a book review, info on the armies of the late republic and the debut of some Napoleonics in a variety of flavours.

The blog has been updated with a few new posts. If anyone is reading the blog I'd appreciate any feedback to the 'Read Me' post, preferrably posted there rather than here.

Thanks :)

Some Late Republican Rome advice wanted

This is the contents of Magister Militum's LRR starter army -

# 9 Command figures
# 64 Legionaires
# 12 Heavy Cavalry
# 16 Light Cavalry
# 32 Illyrian Foot
# 12 Slinger

It's naturally cheaper than buying them individually but is it good use of the army list or will I wind up not using parts of it?
