Battle line Question
If I form a battle line, let's say with a unit of longbow in 2nd rank, with a unit of heavy foot in the front rank...When fighting the enemy, does this battle line function as one unit or two? Does the second rank unit of bows shoot in impact? If I lose the combat and get disrupted...do BOTH units g...

I was going to post this morning on this very topic. I have been painting my 25mm English HYW figures for my upcoming battle with Charles in Northern France. I have based my first longbow unit (medium foot) without difficulty. But looking at the heavy infantry figures (Old Glory) and the smaller hea...

Thanks Gents! ok pre-measuring is allowed. Another quick question...The poor French knight unit that fell short on it's charge (due to a poor variable move die roll) recieved ELEVEN hits from longbow fire. Am I correct that his unit suffers SIX hits, apply all modifiers and make death roll, it then ...

100 Years War Skirmish!
England wins the day! The French pretender to the throne and I met upon the field of glory for the first time last weekend at his home. My bases had not yet arrived, so my painted troops were useless...still glued to thier painting sticks. The French forces were entirely unpainted, but there were en...

100 Years War Skirmish!
Our first encounter with the French! The bases I ordered had STILL not arrived, so my painted force had to stay home. My friend George had not painted any troops, but luckily he had based enough plastics to field 4 units and two commanders per side! So we decided to push these about to get a feel fo...

Oh most foul and inclement weather! THREE DAYS without heat or power...while a heavy snow falls...methinks I smell a French plot to delay the English longbow's arrival upon the field. That field however shall be soggy with mud...PERFECT for French knights to plod through. The weather I shall supply ...

Incidentally, who is the Corsican Henry V spoke of earlier? I must have missed my history lesson somewhere. Nobody important has come from Corsica have they? You are correct Sir, nobody of any importance has come from Corsica. I was referring to Napoleon Bonaparte...the general most Frenchmen will ...

How does the Ides of March look for you? March 15th!? If it takes you that long to assemble your forces, I guess I'll have to romp around the Northern coast until you come and face me. As an incentive to paint, would you like to agree that we will field only completed units? Or is this merely a ski...

As long as they are lined up correctly, the men at arms can rout through the longbowmen and its an allowed interpenetration. So no disruption. Its no easy meat for the French Knights slight adavntage in Impact then fairly even. If you do manage to get the English men at arms you then have another t...

Re: 100 Years War French
Coincidently, I'm also a neophyte and was wondering if I could get some advice on how to deal with that upstart Henry and his longbow army as they indulge in their little chevauchee across France. Remember that your mounted knights are nobles, heirs to wealth and honorable houses. The English force...

Thanks! Lets see if I understand correctly... lbw to the fore with small 4s of billmen as rear support. Longbows out front. 4's of billmen means 4 stands correct? 2x2 or 4 wide? make sure you get all shots in. lbw in 8s and put a general in when charged - the rerolls on extra dice make the differenc...

100 Years War English
My first post with some starter questions; My friend and I have just purchased the rules and are doing the 100 years war in 28mm together. I'm playing the English good guys, and he is playing the bad guys (the much despised French! Boo Hiss! Spittle!) Looking over the list I see that I'll be playing...
