I loaded up the 1939 scenario as the Allies just to see what they had available.

My units began at half strength! When I load the same scenario as the Axis all the Allied units begin at full strength.

But wait there is more.

I was able to not lose France to Germany ...

The older versions of this game were relatively easy to modify the starting values for scenarios.

With the latest versions I have not been able to figure out how to do this.

How could I change the amount of production points available to a country at the start of a scenario?

I uninstalled the game. I reinstalled the game. It runs now.

The DOS box is part of the installer. It needs to run to set up all the files correctly. GS is a free expansion by a team of volunteers and while they do everything they can to help people get up and running there may be issues they can't resolve. There is no reason it should not work on Windows 7 ...

Perhaps I was unclear in my previous post. I'm running Windows 7.

And I just bought the game online, for the third time I might add because when I try to reinstall it that does not work.

Anyway, I bought the game again. The original version of CEAW runs fine, but the Grand Strategy 2.0 mod does ...

I think I have the problem for which this is the prescribed fix:

6) Game does not start up, sometimes I see a black window which immediately closes, what shoudl I do? Try run the game in windowed mode. To do this, go into BOTH Documents/CEAW/settings.txt AND Docuements/CEAW Fast Play/settings.txt ...

Hard disk died, but I had everything backed up.

Now, however, when I try to run 2.0 it says it can't locate Java.

Installed newest version of Java and even copied the whole new version into 2.0's folder, but it still says it can't find Java.

That worked, THANK YOU, for files I have created since reinstalling the game.

I uninstalled the game a couple of weeks ago and reinstalled it, and I saved the saved games in another folder.

It won't load those games still. Is there a way to load those? It's the same game and the same version of ...

renaming the files did not work.

They still save as word files, not notepad files, and they don't load.

I'm using Vista, boo. I'll try renaming the files/.

I looked at the saved files and they are not saved as Notepad files like the format they start in.

They have been saved as Microsoft Word files.

Why did the program do this and how can I fix it?

It would be nice to convert these files, but more importantly how can I save a game and have the file ...

Tried to load game and it says

Maybe this editor does not work with CEAW Gold?

I dloaded the editor and followed the procedures spelled out above.

When I save the scenario file it does not save. It's not anywhere on my computer.

Is this a familiar screw up on my part?

I am running Vista and I have McAfee Anti Virus.

I uninstalled CEAW. I bought and entirely new copy and extra download. I am not happy about having to do this by the way.

I then uninstalled McAfee.

I then downloaded and installed a new copy of CEAW.

It still does not run. I get the black window ...

I had CEAW Gold. It was running fine.

Now when I try to start it I get the black box and then that disappears and I can't start the game.

I even bought a new copy and downloaded that, with extended download for another 6 bucks and it still won't run.

It was starting yesterday.

Probably violating some protocol with this thread, but I play for an hour, save a game, and when I go to load it the next day I get an error which says that the game was saved by a previous version of the game and cannot be loaded.

What is up with this?
