Loading saved games

Just reinstalled Gold.

Played one turn, saved game.

Tried to load game and it says

saved in a previous version go perform an act of autogenesis.

hep?

I think this is related to the save file name and it is reporting teh wrong issue. When you save the game make sure you use the default file extension.

I looked at the saved files and they are not saved as Notepad files like the format they start in.

They have been saved as Microsoft Word files.

Why did the program do this and how can I fix it?

It would be nice to convert these files, but more importantly how can I save a game and have the file save in the same format as the game expects.

I am confused.....

Save Games shoudl end with .dat
you can rename it so it ends with .dat and then game can load it. What Operating System are you using?
Game saves manually a autosave.dat but have you saved manually? If you save manually do not remove the .dat ending to the name

renaming the files did not work.

They still save as word files, not notepad files, and they don't load.

Have you tried unhiding your file extensions?

That worked, THANK YOU, for files I have created since reinstalling the game.

I uninstalled the game a couple of weeks ago and reinstalled it, and I saved the saved games in another folder.

It won't load those games still. Is there a way to load those? It's the same game and the same version of the game, but it is a reinstalled game.

Have you tried moving the older saved games to the current folder and trying to load them from there?
