Re: Scenario creation guide part 1 (Getting started and Terrain)

How do I name the scenario????

1. I made the campaign folder.

2. I open the editor.

3. The editor has 'new scenario' in yellow in a brown box. I can't sem to write anything there toname my scenario. I can get to a blank map and start tiling. But the map has no name.

Where am I messing up?

Re: is there any way to save and print scenario maps on paper?

Is there any way to do this from saved files or the editor? I ask because I could use this to design scenarios to play with miniatures for FOGII

Re: Field of Glory II Dev Diary - Game Modes

What I would like the game to do is allow me to play EQUAL POINTS against the AI, with me choosing my army list; and the AI either choosing their own points or playing against a 1200 point army of my design. That is how I would practice against humans. I would like to use the highest AI level. As I ...

missing tanks in sight of kursk

Playing as Germans, I need more than 24 Russian tanks killed to get the last star, and I can't find 24 tanks. I even hang around until the last turn to take the last objective and no Russian reserves appear. Anyone know where they are hiding?

your security settings do not allow you to ....

Ok, trying to download the patch. I get the dreaded your security settings will not allow you to download this file message. I've tried going to my security tab on windows and enabling file download, and it didn't solve the problem. I do also have Symantec 360 working, I'm a bit afraid to turn it of...

Re: Metz help- s bridgehead!

I must have tried this a dozen times before getting a bit lucky. First, I hit the small isolated house in the south west quadrant with a first turn P47 strike. There is usually a 75mm AT gun in the house and a Pz IV in front of it. I got lucky one game and suppressed the tank and killed the AT gun. ...

Re: Blitzkrieg France

First off, I think it is 10 turns and not 5 turns. So, you actually have time to get a couple of 88 mm shots in after they arrive on turn 7. Two at least can set up on turn 7, That gives many 4 shots on turn 8, 6 shots on turn 9 and turn 10. Got to be able to kill something with that. Look at the bu...

Fourth Star in Mopping up Blitz France

this may seem silly, but it bugs me that I can't get the 4th star in Blitzkrieg France, for 'Complete the Mission in 15 turns'. A. I capture both Bridge objectives in 15 turns, or 13 or 12 in easy mode. B. I destroy not only 30 units but 50 units, enough to get the achievement, in 15 turns, or 14 or...

Improving the AI

I am not familiar with the original boardgame, so I do not know what adjustments were made on the 'hard' level of the game regarding reinforcement rates or troop availability. That being said, I have achieved a preponderance of victories on Hard Level against the AI by adopting a relatively simple s...

Beginner Victory...

Why not a light horse army? March your light horse BG's against one half of the enemy, line up and start shooting. Sooner or later you get a couple of hits, and backing them up with some cavalry or knights gives you an opportunity for a kill. One or two BG's of light horse can hold up heavy foot for...

Change the troop density or the scoring system

"Metagame" is a term which describes the game outside of the game rules. This may have many aspects. Army choice is one element of the metagame. If everyone at every tournament shows up with one army, then it makes sense to tailor an army to defeat that army. Speed of play is an element of...

Scoring systems are pointless....

IMO the best system is double elimination. Lose or draw two games and you are out of the tournament. If you can't do double elimination, then do single elimination. Tournaments with 'scoring systems' all artificially favor certain armies, and penalize players excessively for luck of the draw, that i...

Upgrading the AI

Phil Barker, (who's he?), once wrote that only if your light troops are defeated should you send in the phalanx. I find this to be a critical problem for the AI in FOG. The AI routinely allows its light cavalry to be charged by light infantry when either a. the light cavalry can be charged by strong...

How do I buy EDS if I didn't order it at first?

Just bought the game, had NO idea that I was just buying a download instead of a disk in a pretty box. Placed my order without hitting the EDS button.

Now I can't seem to find a way back to buy EDS.

Also, IS there actually a CD or not?

Help me Design a Persian army to fight Spartans....

My opponent has just finished his 15mm Spartan army, no doubt an early army because of the Armored Spears. He likes to move up in column, and provided he survives the impact round of combat against say, protected pikes, he then expands out to get the overlap and fights at even odds as the plus for p...

any advice for a 600 point game?

First event at FAll In next week is a 600 point game, Rise of Rome and Immortal Fire army books. It seems like a very small game on a very large board. Would you go light horse/lancer like Saka, or would you risk a more balanced force like Seleucid knowing that you might not be able to cover the fro...

I used Saka with a couple of units of Cataphracts, just for fun, they haven't ever been in a battle, and many groups of light horse bow/sword. My opponent showed up with HYW English masquerading as Persian. I had trouble staying away from his bow armed foot, but eventually got around his three light...

Skythian/Saka or Parthians

Playing in an early period tournament, Rise of Rome and Immortal Fire lists 800 points. which would you play with, Skythian/Saka or Parthian. Both armies would start with a core of light horse, 10 or 12 battlegroups of 4. The Skythian/Saka have light horse with bow/swordsmen. The Parthians are bow o...
