Thank you. It doesn't sound unreasonable. I guess I'll be going for a norwegian-style army with dismounted skutilsveiner and hirdmenn...although I don't understand their HW designation. Too bad there are no gestir to field...or is there? Sad there is no crossbows or heavier bowmen. The 13th c...

The hand-held Chu-ko-no (as recorded during the Opium Wars) was also notoriously short-ranged, inaccurate, light-lathed and fired light bolts. Considering that it had the firing speed of regular hand bow (and required magazine reloading) it was perhaps not surprising that it was more useful as a lar...

Proper two-component epoxy (like Araldite) require a while to bond - like, 2 hours for initial bonding and up to 20 hours for the matrix to form. Once this is set, however, it is more likely you'll manage to pull the pewter apart than the epoxy. Some epoxy variants can be cured by UV light exposure ...

It makes me wonder why we gave up these super weapons. IIRC Napoleonic rate of fire was 3 rounds per minute, WW2 bolt action rifle 5 rnds per minute and modern semi-automatic rifle 10 rounds per minute at deliberate rate of fire. You have to remember that the guys in the video are firing without ba...

The rate of fire of the regular crossbow with a belt hook has been severely underestimated by armchair historians. On average, I think the rate of fire of the crossbow is at least half that of the bow, possibly more, heavily depending, of course, on the strength of the bowman/crossbowman. A rather s...

High medieval scandinavians?
Hi there. I'm looking at FOG since I've always had a soft spot for historical wargames; sadly the actual play quality has often been disappointing, especially in competitive games, so I've mostly ended up playing something else instead. With 28mm I can't bring myself to using Dipping, but with 15mm ...
