Then, with the command figures you have left, add them to the normal BG, where they have no effect on the game or BG except for visually How do you determine when this base would be eliminated in combat? Do you generally remove non-"command" bases first (in other words, if you have a base...

Where do you place your infantry command bases?

Newbie question here... given that a) many armies stipulate that you use a cavalry mini for your C-in-C and other field commanders and that b) many 15mm mini producers offer bags of infantry command... where do you place these infantry command bases? In an infantry battle group? Are they just there ...

Shields: transfers, paint, or draw?

With my 15mm corvus belli legionary, I can't decide whether to use transfers, paint the symbols on, or see if there is some sort of fine-tipped marker that I could effectively 'draw' with. I tried painting and I'm not too pleased with what I got; the lines always seem too think. I'm open to suggesti...

I'm not an expert of Romani army in this period, but I'm pretty sure that armament of legionari was supplied by the State. Legions were raised by enlisting people who became professional soldiers. Not sure about when this happened, but anyway I think in Caius Julius Caesar era Romani armies were al...

Why paint when you can get transfers?
Because I'd have to wait for them. And I like to paint. ;)

All terribly symbolic I'm afraid - lightning relates, IIRC, to Iupitter and laurel wreath is, of course, for victory. Is there any rigid standard to this? In other words, does a black shield with a laurel design mean something different than a red shield with the lightning design as far as the troo...

Roman legionnaire shields -- what design should I use?

Is there any rhyme or reason to the design on the semi-cylindrical shields for imperial roman legionnaires? The style I notice most often are the "wings & lightning bolts" and the "laurel". Do these mean anything specific?

Movement trays for 15mm?

Just curious... are there movement trays for 15mm minis? Rather than basing them traditionally, I was thinking of using movement trays -- allows you to move the BGs faster.

The depths are not significant. Working on this theory I have considered basing all my 15mm foot on 20mm deep bases and the mounted on 40mm deep ones - should mean that you can always turn 90 degrees barring terrain obstruction :D Yes, makes a difference when turning your column of 4 cavalry to a l...

How important is the size of bases?

Rookie here... how important is it that I follow the guidelines for the size of bases in FoG? I'm using 15mm, and would like to use the bases from Flames of War. It's not that I have difficulty finding bases of 40x15 or 40x20 size, its more of an aesthetic reason; I want to spread out my celts in a ...

Here are a quick few samples of my work. I am just learning to paint 15mm, so the romans pictured aren't even finished (no shield emblems, etc). http://i462.photobucket.com/albums/qq342/henrydoodle/minisA-1.jpg http://i462.photobucket.com/albums/qq342/henrydoodle/minisb.jpg http://i462.photobucket.c...

Re: Are the Old Glory 15mm FoG miniatures any good?

I like the army "batches" that Old Glory has generated for FoG... but I'm wary as they do not have any actual images of the miniatures! Can anyone shed some light on Old Glory and whether their FoG armies are any good, as far as the quality of the minis is concerned? I'm happy with the La...

I'm a newbie... can you direct me to where I can buy these plastic 28mm minis? I know of only a couple, and they both have very limited selections (Wargames Factory and Warlord Games).

Are you looking to have your army painted for free?

I don't have a lot of money to buy minis and you don't have the time or inclination to paint your armies... I have a deal for you: I'll paint your army for trade... send me a bunch of minis and I'll paint 'em up and send you back half, keeping the other half for myself. For example, send 50 minis un...
