Notification of turns played
I remember with the original game there was an app for PC that indicated when an online opponent had played a turn by flashing. Is that still around and if so how do I download it?

Re: Slitherine links with Games Workshop on new licensing ag
Personally I think this is the most bizarre licensing agreement I have ever heard of. Not to say something good might not come out of it. The previous RTS GW computer games complemented their figure games. Completely different experiences. A turn based game? Last thing GW will want is for it to be a...

Really? An expensive option? Why are you not using a free service that simply hands you a percentage of the sales?jdm wrote:Rob I will work something out, the whole POD thing is an expensive option for us and it will be interesting to see what the take up is like, but drop me a pm to remind me

Re: Field of Glory goes 2.0 !
Why not not put the rule book on Lulu or some similar type and let people buy the book from there. Already suggested. If the future is electronic as Slitherine seems to think then everybody will buy the fancy app and make them the money they expect anyway. Those luddites who don't, like me, will be...

Re: Field of Glory goes 2.0 !
Sorry I don't believe the guff about no money to be made from printed books. If I go to Lulu.com it tells me I can upload my book for free and keep 80% of the revenue. My potential customers even get a choice of how they would like their book printed. Yes printing huge stocks of titles that don't se...

Re: Field of Glory goes 2.0 !
I still can't help thinking there is more to come re FOG2. Nobody in their right mind can think there is more money to be made off a product only available in some obscure digital form than in a printed form. Once available digitally I would be pretty sure someone will put up a copy for illegal down...

Re: Field of Glory goes 2.0 !
This seems almost unbelievable. Are they seriously saying it will only be available in digital format? A rule book tucked in my bag is much more attractive to me than reading off a screen. Print on demand would seem the way to go but I fear the proposed format will be unprintable. Also if you do go ...

Group Movement
I can see how to form a group. When I attempt to move the group only one unit moves. The units in the group still have the dotted outline. Is this how group movement is displayed and you actually move each unit individually?

Hmm. IC+2TCs, 9x8 superior pike, 3 units of LF say. So, 18 base widths of unstopable pike, how do you fill the rest of the table (i.e. the extra 28 base widths on a 15mm 6 foot table)? FoG is a bit of a rock, scissors, paper game. You guys only use rocks and scissors! Get some paper. How do you fil...

Re: Knights
Anybody use them? I thought Knights were underpowered for their cost in FOG1. Taking away the more advantageous break point for superior (which in general is a very good thing) seems to make them even less attractive. In any medieval themed competitions I play in armies are almost exclusively based...

Anybody use them? I thought Knights were underpowered for their cost in FOG1.quote]I think they are currently excellent value for money if heavily armoured. But a lot depends upon what comes with them in the list. Can you expand a little? What armies do you use them in? What other troops are necess...

Jumping to a completely different tack I wonder how the changes will affect one of the killer armies in my local competion scene superior pike as personified by the Swiss. Several changes seem to help them, they now become even less vulnerable to bow fire, getting a +1 against skirmishers means LH a...

I understand people's reticence or lack of funding to buy new army list books but I do hope we avoid the errata sheet era of the DBM lists. That was when the list book came with an errata sheet which promptly got lost, ignored because it covered so many armies, or misinterpreted by stroking out the ...

Points values.
Is everyone content with points values as they are or should the values/ abilities of troops be amended? I realise no points system can ever give a perfect match in 100% of circumstances. There is only a small circle of FOG players here in N Ireland so forgive me if my impressions are wrong due to o...

Too powerful or too cheap. Take your pick. I recently played in a medieval tournament. Every army fielded was pike or light horse based. If other unit types represented equally good value for money why were there no medium foot, or alternative types of heavy foot based armies fielded? Poor pike are ...

Some random thoughts. Superior is too cheap. You will always take superior over average. Pike are too cheap, especially superior pike. Pike should be disadvanted in manoeuvre compared to other heavy foot. I don't believe for a moment a 16 rank formation can change facing as well as a 3 or 4 rank one...

You get a single 'free' reaction shot (plus any you haven't used in your turn). Note that some units get an extra shot as promotion bonuses. Reaction fire tends to hold fire if they have a very low chance to hurt what they are shooting at - so you might need to be a little more proactive when playi...

How exactly does number of shots for armour work? It would seem logical and as per one of the tips that if you don't fire your two shots in your turn you get two shots in your opponents turn. Is that the way it works because it doesn't seem like it, am I just imagining? The tank shuffle tactic move ...
