What is the battle plan?

Post by TimSnoddy »

The starting post was as follows:
Field of Glory has now been in circulation for more than two years, and you the players have completed literally tens of thousands of games. The feedback you have given us is immense and despite the most rigorous beta testing that has ever been conducted on a set of table top rules you have found a number of points that we would like to fix and expand upon. We listen carefully to everything that you say in this forum and we have built up a dossier of data that will help us take the rules to a new level.

Not all of the points raised will make the final cut but we invite you to contribute further by setting out your problems and suggested solutions, in this thread. We guarantee that we will listen carefully to you all. It will not be possible to respond to all of the points raised but I can assure you we are listening.

We intend to incorporating further clarifications and improvements to the realism and game play, and we may possibly conduct a new beta test programme to test the new ideas. We welcome your feedback and comments on any aspect of how this should be done

Best regards
JDM
Does this mean that the mechanism for how FOG is developed is up for debate? Is there any time scale thought through? What I mean is, is there a a cut off point at which time the ideas suggested in thsi forum will be taken away for analysis? Will there be a period of closed beta testing? Is it intended to make proposed changes public as versions 1.1 or whatever? Is there a definite intention to publish FOG2 and if so is there even a tentative time scale? I realise it is very early days but no harm in asking I hope  Congratuations on making a rule set as good as FOG 1 is.

I think there are a lot of things they discovered writing FOG-R that they now want to include. Just my guess.

Are you planning to re-issue the army lists or just the rules? Personally I hope you don't touch the army lists for a while because people have only just bought the current set.

However if you do decide to change them here are a few points to consider:

- Make the last two columns of the army list 'Total Bases if full army' and 'Total Bases if Ally'. This would save a lot of space which could be used to make some of the armies that are currently only allies into full lists.

- Save space by removing the 'Starter Armies' lists.

- Put the 'How to use the Army Lists' section into the appendices of the rules so we only have to buy it once.

- Put the dates in the title to make it easier to select historical match-ups. Including a list of historical enemies would help too.

- Ideally publish them as 200 page hard-back books like the rules.

It will be a sad day if they change the lists TBH I can't see the need there is a few things that could be changed but the swarm seems to have died out know that people have plans to stop them I vote is no change for the lists please.
