I think it is important to remember that the oil mechanics in the game are abstract - 0 oil doesn't mean 'no oil left in Germany', it means 'not enough oil left for OKH to use in a strategic way'. The nearest thing you will find to SPQR today is the excellent Rome: Total War, with the Barbarian Invasion expansion pack. It's a Maus [Mouse] - it was much larger even than a King Tiger (I believe the secondary co-axial weapon was a 75mm, the same size as a Sherman's main gun). Thank you for your very detailed post! I have done 1) and 2) but it still won't work. I have tried to install the Java Hotfix but my copy of the game is not in the default folder and it won't accept the correct folder when I select it, it says the application is not there! I am running XP ...

Changing Costs of Commanders
I am having trouble changing the costs of the Commanders, as I want to reduce them, to get more use out of them in the game. I have changed the costs listed in both the leader.txt and leader_eng.txt files, but in the game they are still the same when I run it. Are the leaders defined anywhere else ...

Problems with map editor
I just downloaded the editor but when I ran it I could only see the western map edge, and scroll up and down but not east-west. I though the problem might be with my version of Java as I haven't updated it for ages, so I downloaded the most recent version of that and now the editor won't run at all ...

As the Germans I have captured numerous oil wells, but on the statistics screen they do not show up as being under my control. I am not even sure I am getting any extra oil, which was the point in capturing them. How does the game deal with capturing oil wells and how quickly do you get extra oil ...
