Great news - looking forward to this. I'll see if I can find a partner for play testing (looking in Nottingham/ East Midlands area).
The suggested aims sound right to me.

Re: How do you stop a heavy cavalry division?
Russians. A unit without a artillery attachment looks naked. Steady infantry is rough similar numbers are not likely to just rolled over, In this example it was two on to one. Steady squares will not be destroyed one on one very often. Unsupported cavalry are not a huge threat in most cases. Yes, g...

It was the 1805 French Army of Italy...two arty attachments are allowed in a cavalry division if no horse arty is taken.

Re: defensive shooting
I'm interested in understanding this better also. In a game last night my opponent charged my disordered cavalry with his own cavalry. In doing so his cavalry swept past a unit of my infantry in square - well within two inches. We looked up rules and concluded the infantry could not fire because the...

Re: How do you stop a heavy cavalry division?
Thanks for this. I haven't tried a LC horde as a counter but I will once I've painted up a few more units. In our game last night, my opponent had just one cavalry unit - superior LC. He also had no artillery on the flank where my HC were attacking.

How do you stop a heavy cavalry division?
In a game yesterday I took a heavy cavalry division for the first time. Cuirassiers: small superior drilled shock cavalry, both with artillery attachments. Plus one attached officer. Dragoons: two average drilled heavy cavalry (one unit from winning the initiative roll by 3). Charismatic competent c...

Excellent, thanks!
I can use my Wurttembergers across the whole period now.

Re: Where are the Wurttembergers in 1812?
I realise this is an old thread - but was there any conclusion to this? I'm also collecting Wurttembergers and would like to have the option to use them in the 1812 campaign.
Thanks

Re: Minima for non-allied elements
Thanks both.
Shame, but at least it's clear. I understand the lists are intended to broadly reflect the historical reality of actual army composition, so that's fair enough.
I'm pretty ignorant of the early Napoleonic period so need to do a bit more reading.

Minima for non-allied elements
Are the minima for the non-allied element of an army that has an allied division modified at all? For example, I would like to field an 1805-7 French Army with a Wurttemberg infantry division. However, the minimim number of French line infantry bases on the list is 16. Does the 16 minimum still appl...

Assaulting artillery outside their arc
In a game yesterday we had a situation where infantry were within 1 MU of an artillery unit but were outside their forward firing arc. If the infantry were to assault the artillery would the artillery be able to fire defensively? I've attached an actual photo. IMAG0931.jpg The French Infantry above ...
