Unit Indicators: Is there a legend somewhere?

Really having a tough time with this game's UI/interface, particularly the unit icons and trying to decipher what's what. I'm playing World War II, as Germans. I have 2D map enabled. I see the red and black iron cross circle, bottom left, but sometimes it has half of the iron cross covered by a blac...

Hi, I see this question pretty often last time, but I'm happy to answer. One of the things we have done is that we moved navy management to the main map and give the player's possibility to control units during the naval battle and give them some orders. Also the size of the ports is now different,...

Bit fuzzy on this...

and have just started playing this game again in over a year, but didn't Armour use 4 Oil per turn? Right now, with GS 1.06, I'm seeing 2. Is this part of the mod or am losing it? :?

Great tips, BuddyGrant! We should really post this up as a sticky if it's not already there. Even better would be a wiki.

If all you wanted to do was change Germanys starting PP's then thats quite strait forward... Changing the values on the oil fielsd is a little more time consuming! I figured it out: saving the map was a bit hit or miss from the editor (not sure why yet) but what I did was I loaded up the map in the...

Ok, I think I can figure out how to edit the .scn as text with a bit of trial and error. Question though: can I still edit the maps with the 1.06 Map Editor or will they be incompatible too? Both the GS map and scenarios are incompatible so the answer is no. Hmm. Did a couple of tests and compared ...

How did you make the edits? If with the CEAW Scenario Editor then that is your problem right there. If you want to edit the GS Mod without seeing the strangeness you describe you need to do so using a text editor or by the more complex decompile/recompile method. BTW, you can still take France in y...

Re: GS 1.06: France not surrendering?

Not sure what's up. I've pretty much conquered all of france save for the Maginot Line and a couple of port cities, but for some reason, France is not surrendering. Paris was captured like 5 turns ago as well. I'm playing a subtle mod of 1939 Scenario (boosted German start PP and increased oil prod...

Your "free editor" argument is moot: CEAW and CNAW have an almost identical object model and code base, so there's no excuse not to have one when CEAW does, and why I'm not buying any more of Firepower's products.

What's up with the map editor? Can't be that hard to port the editor over from CEAW -- the games are almost identical.

Yes, cut off units lose supply, but it takes several turns for them to get down to zero. Unlike CEAW, where an out-supplied unit will go down to zero supply immediately. Also, in CNAW you can't get supply from ships on the coast. Each system has its benefits and drawbacks. The manual states that yo...

useful tip for windowed mode for dual monitor setups

Found out that by unchecking/checking again the "Full Screen" in the options menu allows you to play in a sort of windowed mode: you can ALT-TAB between other programs without minimizing the game and can keep a browser open, the manual, Outlook, etc. open on your other monitor.

Can't move into Vienna?

First time playing, so possibly I'm not "getting" some sort of game restriction, but the next turn after taking Vienna as France, there's a one hex perimeter surrounding Vienna that I can't move into. Also, there's an Austrian Line Infantry unit "stuck" in this perimeter. Vienna ...
