Re: Updates - where we are at
My experience starting DBM and watching in continually having print outs and addendums is that once a rule set can't be simply bought and played with a single book no one new will ever start playing it . And FOGR is starting off a far lower base. So without a new book you are pretty much dooming the...

Re: More competitions in 2017 without the 50:50 rule?
I only used to play 3 or 4 day I period 25mmgames until I joined league of ancients club and saw Vikings fighting assyrians Fantasy. Good fun. Not a simulation But when people go down this historical path they are kidding themselves There were mounted armies and there was artillery In dbmm should ba...

Re: More competitions in 2017 without the 50:50 rule?
I have been watching these restrictions being brought in from Australia with concern. As most here in Melbourne know I play a similar style in all periods in all rules. If you put your 5 guns on an angle defensively and they never fire and my 6 or 8 guns are pushed forward [ with risk] But they fire...

1805 French
The errata for 1805-7 French says Guard can replace similar core troops .
Clearly that can't be exactly like for like.
Do the mean line infantry replace line? Or light cav replace light cav?
It says Guard , not Guard infantry only.

Assaulting buildings
The rules say only one unit can occupy a building. I assume this is a village on the terrain lists. Does this apply to a double village? I assume it does. Pretty big coverage for one unit. Only artillery can fire against defended villages. On the assault phase then, after everyone gets their 4 shots...

Re: assaulting and wheeling
KendallB, just getting back to the assault definition , it simply says a contact has to be made in a normal move. Nothing about centre lines. In the wheeling section, it says it must wheel as far as necessary to place part of the target in front of their centre line OR as far as possible if this wou...

Re: assaulting and wheeling
The other issue regarding abandoned guns is on page 29 it says in reaction moves as a retire , gunners take refuge behind an infantry unit within 2MU. What if there is no infantry unit within 2 MU? Yet elsewhere the gun crew is treated as an ethereal entity which can come back to the guns once crite...

That's what I thought.
Interesting about the outcome move if you have received defensive fire. What category do you use?

Re: sliding a base width during an assault move ?
The requirement for a slide within 6 MU is to only avoid friends with a minimum distance slid.
You can argue whether this can be done in a charge because it is discussed in the movement section.
Any other slide can't come closer than 2MU excluding an assault.

assaulting and wheeling
As a new player something I thought was simple has been questioned by another newish player. I thought any contact with an assaulted unit was an assault. page 28 In particular 2 units charging 1. My friend has jumped to the the wheeling section and interpreted that all chargers must wheel to hit the...

Re: CanCon 2015
I may have this wrong but a part time attendee of the site would read Cancon 10 spots , 10 gone.
Is this right?
FOGR could be running towards numero uno if it looked open.

I thought it wasnt covered. Who contacts first is relatively easy if you go down the who is faster path. [ assuming someone is faster] The main issue I found was where does the other one go and who else do they hit. Which seems unresolved. If we had played both have to hit [ contracting etc] it woul...

Order of compulsory charges
A unit of knights and lancer cav both fail not to charge. The cav goes first , contacts , and blocks the knights totally from contacting the enemy. Do the knights A Follow the original charge path as far as they can and then get blocked by the cav B Not move at all C Contract and wheel around the ca...

Sorry Nik , to clarify I am talking about lancers [ or mounted v MF ] in totally clear terrain fighting MF infantry who are in rough. They seem to keep the lancer and mounted plusses as long as they dont come into the rough. . The query was about fortifications , with again the mounted seemingly in ...
