Thanks for the response but I'm still confused. I did't ask the question very well. I'll re-state the issue: I have two ranks of bow and want to fire with both ranks - but I have two ranks of bow with the front rank out of the village and the rear rank in the village? Can I claim two ranks deep for ...

Rear rank shooting from terrain

I’m sure this question has been asked before and the answer is probably in the rules – but I can’t find it! I have two ranks of bow and want to fire with both ranks - but I’m in a village. Page 131 states that “Troops inside can only shoot in 1 rank” but what if I have the front rank out of the vill...

New Scoring Issue

This may have been addressed during the development of the game system (but I couldn't find any posts): I have some concerns about the scoring system where the loss of a 4 element BG of poor slingers counts as the same value as the loss of my 8 element elite legionary BG. Have I missed something in ...

Brian, It's all covered on Page 23 and your formation of a "line" (8 wide - 1 deep) is a rectagle by definition and certainly allowed in the rules. Single rank formations are particularly important for cavalry as it is the game's system for representing "skirmishing" cavalry (tha...

Permission to modify and post Beta QRS

I have a modified Beta QRS which is easier to read (than the original) and still fits on 2 A4 pages.
If the authors will give permission I'm happy to post it.
It my be useful as an interim QRS until a better one becomes available.

Rules Question - Commanders

My tiny brain is having trouble getting around this ... I'm sure it's simpler than I think! Last night we had a TC in the front rank (fighting) to give re-roll options and another General (the CinC (IC)) attached to the same BG to roll ++ for CMTs etc. I understand that only one General can influenc...

"You will find that after one game you only need the rules to clarify points. It really is simple." You guys must be "Brilliant"! ... and there's nothing worse than being told how simple something is when you are struggling with it!! The basic flow of the game and the "conce...

Steve, Hammy, Thanks for the responses - you have confirmed what I suspected. I think the real problem is the "Shooting Dice Table" on page 44 and the same in the Beta Reference Sheet (Excel). These tables talk about 2nd ranks with MF but not LF or LH so (as far as the table is concerned) ...

Shooting Ranks

I'm sure this question has already been asked ... but I've had a look through the forums and can't resolve the niggling question ... Does it "explicitly" state in the rules which ranks of a missile armed Battlegroup can fire? It talks about rear rank bases shooting on Pg 39 - but this is i...

What does everybody think of this game?

As long time players of DBx (and 7th Edition) my Club is "relieved" to have a sensible alternative to the WRG sets. We have now had three games of FoG and we are getting over our DBx bias to see the many positive aspects of FoG. The previous posts have outlined the key changes between the ...
