Re: Oxford Sunday FOGR event 5, December 14

Absolutely, I think that reflects the position of a number of people and none of us, at least not me, has 25mm or 15mm armies for every possible theme. That is the reason for the proposed structure so that there would always be both size competitions available provided at least 4 people wanted to do...

Re: Oxford Sunday FOGR event 5, December 14

All, Here are the thoughts on a different approach to 25mm and 15mm games for 2026. Noting that 25mm events will always have reduced numbers of entrants there exist the possibility of all 5 of our events being in both 25mm and 15mm in parallel. The idea would be to allow up to 8x25mm entrants and 8x...

Re: Oxford Sunday FOGR event 5, December 14

David, I was just thinking that there was still time to review the themes/ running order for next year to be sure everyone was happy. There is also the idea that we could make all the events available at both 25mm and 15mm. I have heard from Chris in favour of that and Ray and I developed the idea b...

Re: Oxford Sunday FOGR event 5, December 14

Dear all, Here is the draw for round 1 on Sunday 14th. Re: Beginning thoughts for Oxford FOGR events in 2026

All, discussions at the event yesterday have confirmed the details in my posting of 10th September with one change; the Army List book used for one of the 15mm events (to test whether the approach of using the books to define the theme works) will be Cities of Gold. Dates are currently under negotia...

All, results of round 4 as follows. Some excellent games. Ray 59.5 Dene 54 Paddy 50 Paul 40 Dave 37 Keith 29 Jerry 25.5 Tom 7 As you can all see I struggled and have concluded, for the future, that I will choose armies with max possible number of superior troops and the maximum possible number of ge...

Correction to the Draw. I put Keith playing Dene but should have put Keith to play me and Chris to play Dene.

Sorry

Re: Beginning thoughts for Oxford FOGR events in 2026

A trial run, one of the events next year, has been suggested for the army list idea. I guess that should be 15mm for maximum flexibility. Any more thoughts before I assemble a proposal to put to the group on Sunday 14th? We shall need to make a decision in principle then with details to be discussed...

Re: Beginning thoughts for Oxford FOGR events in 2026

Another vote for 3x15mm and 2x25mm rounds. Also a liking for tight themes, probably geographical but with narrow time periods.

Also a suggestion of using each of the army list books as the theme for a round. This is new, so any comments on this?

FOGR Oxford Sunday Victor Ludorum 2025

A reminder of where VL things stand with two rounds to go. Currently Paddy is in the lead with 14 points, Dene and Keith are equal second with 12 and Ray is fourth with 10 points. Andy is on 8, Bob is on 7, Jerry, David B, David E and I are on 6 and Chris on 4. It looks like10 players in round 4, so...

Re: Beginning thoughts for Oxford FOGR events in 2026

Voting is going in favour of tight themes with clearly defined and limited parameters. I have one vote in favour of two 25mm sessions.
