Re: Field of Glory II: Medieval - Rise of the Swiss is Out Now

Thank you for your reply. I have the Medieval game installed. I just needed the link to the latest update before purchasing and downloading the Swiss DLC. I'll follow the steps you've outlined for the update.

So I take it this time there's no alternative to downloading it from the game's update tab? That option has never worked for me; I've always had to download the update from somewhere else in the website.

Yeah. Good luck. The writing’s on the wall. I’m no good at whistling past the graveyard.

Re: List of dates for DLC?

I doubt it. It looks like pretty soon there will only be a non historical format with no historical versions. That’s not precisely getting along. And since the custom scenarios for FoG Medieval are few and far between (as opposed to FoG-1), the idea of getting along is IMO irrelevant and disingenuou...

Re: List of dates for DLC?

Oh I know that you’re not going away. You might even become the dominant force and change the FoG experience from historically based to pure fantasy. The figurines may even be changed to cartoon-like troll creatures. Sign of the times. Ok. You stay, we go.

Re: List of dates for DLC?

Are there still plans for a DLC for 2000 (?) BC to 681 BC? Or is planning for that Swifter than Eagles DLC quietly discontinued? Mmmm, that will be entertaining. So from the End of the First Interregnum/Dawn of the Middle Kingdom. Hyksos Invasion, Sea Peoples, Quadesh, The Late Bronze Age Collapse,...

Re: About the Crécy scenario

Blast it. I just ran out of popcorn. Again: the scenario is unhistorical and it's basically not a historical scenario by that definition. It's a fantasy "what if" scenario and should be designated as such. It is unbalanced and inaccurate.

Re: About the Crécy scenario

Well, we had our say and pointed out something we thought was obvious. So we have yet another scenario, like Cannae in the Ancients FoGII, that paradoxically is unbalanced on one end for trying to avoid unbalance on the other. Lol. The road paved with good intentions leads to a one-way street. The w...

Re: About the Crécy scenario

I quite like the Crecy scenario as a battle. It is very tough to win for the English even against the AI. A good challenge. I think it would be too easy just to sit back and fire arrows away. I think someone mentioned to me that Agincourt doesn't have a lot of tactical decisions to make.. Again, I ...

Re: About the Crécy scenario

Dux Limitis: I concur completely with your assessment. The Genoese are too strong and their inexperience facing longbows, their exhausted state and the impact of the sudden if short rain on their bowstrings (they tightened) are not reflected correctly in this scenario. Also, there were surely not as...

Re: Early Scottish Spearmen incorrect spanish translation

"Lanceros" does not refer directly to a time period but to a specific type of unit of soldiery and, in a Spanish version, that has to be made clear. Otherwise a reader could well ask why are these lanceros said to arrive earlier on the field, or are they supposed to attack first? Lol. It c...

Re: Early Scottish Spearmen incorrect spanish translation

You're welcome. There are some screwy and weird "Spanish" names being generated. Anyone with names like that would've been exiled from Castile, Asturias and León faster than the Cid was. Lol.

Re: Early Scottish Spearmen incorrect spanish translation

In this context, "tempranos" doesn't cut it either for that term refers to early in the morning or in its seasonal occurrence. There is not just one word that can translate the meaning desired in this context. The correct usage would be "de primera época" or simply "época pr...

Re: An interesting take on the Battle of the Granicus (334 BC)

So, we can conclude from all this that the writer essentially construes the "accepted" version of Granikos as Alexandrian propaganda casting the battle as a proto-Issus, if you will - an avatar of the later, larger victory. And not as an initial setback salvaged by Parmenio's prevailing ad...

Re: Normans in Italy

Thank you very much indeed. I'll certainly have a look. I'm looking primarily for the Southern Italy campaigns (Montemaggiore, Civitate, etc.), such as the community scenarios that I designed for FoG !. Both Sicity and Southern Italy are great subjects for campaign mods, I think.
