Re: Objective expiration
I'm going to dissent. Objectives come from the whim of your ruler, and rulers can be a fickle lot. So it's immersive, plus I like the gameplay aspect of occasionally having to shift strategy on short notice, it's a nice challenge having to adapt. I agree. And especially if the effect is: objectives...

Re: Is Sparta unplayable
What actually became of Sparta during the time period? Did they get ROFLMAO-stomped and made into someone else's backyard?

Re: Mathematicians, playing Empires often makes me tired.
I wish the game were seasonal turns (or even "monthly") instead of annual. I think a lot of the "lack of immersion," and a feeling the game is a "number crunch challenge," comes from the fact every turn is one year. Of course, making it take so much longer would bring w...

Re: Legions. Do Hills = Mountains?
Not sure, but I think most of the modifiers are shown in game in one way or another. Definitely when you put a legion in rough terrain (rocky, forest, swamp, probably other types too) they show a "Severely Disordered" marker. The other thing is that height advantage has an effect and I vag...

Re: Provincial Units Infographic - Full List
Is it just me, or . . . are Italian Foot kinda crap? Great for sieges and swamp battles, and far cheaper than Legions and Alae respectively. Ah okay. So they don't get disrupted in swamp tiles? Are they better than any other unit for sieges or just a very cost-effective option, say as good as legio...

Re: Comments on peace treaties and other deals
Unfortunately, it appears I do not have any save file for that turn (40 or 41). Best I got is 36 or 45, but no guarantee the computer would make that offer on those turns, and I might have even been at peace with them by turn 45.

Re: Comments on peace treaties and other deals
In a peace only one side can "give", so the 2 clauses must be both to your benefit, so I'm slightly confused here if you say you got metal but lost an objective. Do you still have the save before you accepted the proposal? Possibly. I will look. I am 99.999% certain of what happened thoug...

I would guess pretty minor things to change too. Probably just change out one string: boom, new color/texture applied?

Re: Grognerd's Guide is FINISHED!
The guide is awesome btw :) I am using it as a reference guide as it is so well done and easy to read! One slight notice though, the guide mentions Roman legions can't build a Roman Camp (or Public Works etc) if the legion is moving; that is not correct (even though the tooltip in game seems to sug...

Re: FOG2 Deployment Config File?
Thanks rbodleyscott. Re: the question of "speeding up deployment," I've realized there are two cases. 1. the nature of the battle (and especially the terrain) is such that, I don't feel the need to re-deploy the whole army from scratch and the algorithms outcome is nice and does save time....

Oh cool. I knew legions could build a Public Works for money, but didn't know they could do the Regional Roads

Re: Grognerd's Guide is FINISHED!
On sidenote, any idea what is the prerequisite of 'Regional Roads' . I tend to utilize my legion in infrastructure projects, starting with public works, they can also build regional roads but I am not what the exact prerequisite. Pretty sure it is just Public Works and at least two additional T1 in...

Re: Grognerd's Guide is FINISHED!
Question about Sulfur. Campania has it as a "Natural Resource." There seems to be no "mine" which "produces" it. Rather, in skimming your steam guide, I see a "Sulfur Emporium" which apparently is only accessible by "Decision" and requires Tier II o...

Re: Grognerd's Guide is FINISHED!
I have reached the conclusion (and others may disagree) that there is a certain set of buildings one will tend to want in EVERY region. My draft list: Farm & Granary: together these account for 30 food, substantial! Acqueduct & Sewers: I have yet to build a sewer but it must be an even bette...

Re: Various Comments
It seem to me that decadence already accounts to population size and urbanization, the larger an empire is the more you have to divest from growth (into culture generation), which sound a lot like the administrative burden you speak off. Personally, I also enjoy from large sums of money, manpower a...

I just had it happen that _I_ (Rome) ceded Padus to Celticii when it appeared to me that THEY were ceding Padus to ME. https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/784123877854547682/85EFC5419034C95CD7F934CA4AC3A6961BACB98D/ If I read that panel incorrectly then all I can say is: This UI needs some ad...

FOG2 Deployment Config File?
I don't like how FOG2 deploys my troops for me. Playing Rome it always tries at a maniple formation which is fine, except . . . I want to configure my deployment from "scratch" pretty much each time. My preference would be along the lines of: 1. A "Clear Field" toggle button with...
