Re: First DLC faction

Or better yet, let us play as the British in such a scenario.

You could call it the Dubstep campaign, because I'm sure we'd see a lot of Dead Maus. :D

Re: First DLC faction

IMO France or Spanish Civil War would be perfect for showing off the "branching campaign" tech: an "allies" and "axis" alt history branch for a Francoist victory and a "comintern" and "allies" (read: France or North Africa) branch for a Republican vi...

Re: Kursk Deadly Grasped

I thought that was more or less the original plan: pinch the salient off and reduce it in order to shorten the front line, but it was a trap since the soviets had concentrated like 90% of their armor there for their own counterattack on the Orel salient, once the German assault on Kursk failed.

Re: Running Out of Prestige

The AI in a lot of missions outnumbers you overwhelmingly, with equal or superior armor in some missions, and starts with all its forces pre-positioned in nearly perfect locations in later missions. It also doesn't carry troops over mission to misison - if it uses green reinforcements, it'll still g...

They do take it back, but it's in the store for Stalingrad for like ~5k if you did Barbarossa North.

Re: Tensest Moments of the Campaign so Far - Going for Alt History East

I did the alt East route, I went north to Leningrad. It was fun, but I missed out on Karl, he would have made life easier in Stalingrad for sure. :D I did Leningrad too. If you do leningrad, Karl gets offered to you some time after Sevastapol - I think specifically FOR Stalingrad, if you look in yo...

Re: Explain this encirclement

I see this was done because unlike a game like OOB where supply lines are always visible, Panzer Corps 2 only shows them when there is a serious situation (supply cut). I prefer it the PzC2 way, because now I see supply related problems as actual as emergencies, not just something that is always vi...

Re: Anticlimactic?

I've already notified McNeil. Slitherines's handling of this thread is out of bounds. We'll see maybe this is acceptable at Slitherine. I will say I don't see what made you so upset, but maybe I'm just blind - I've never been the most social person - and it's definitely not my place to ask. I would...

Re: Anticlimactic?

Mods, I do think it is time to lock this thread. We had some productive discussion on the topic, and then a little bit of productive discussion on the limits of creative freedom and compliance with regulations in the context of providing satisfying endings in a WWII game, but it's definitely degener...

Re: Organizational chart

Slight error in this chart. Barbarossa Center and Barbarossa South do Kiev, but Barbarossa North does Leningrad instead. As to the other discussion - that's part of why I view Barbarossa North as the "true" "alt-history" path: you take Leningrad, you take Moscow, you take Staling...

In a more visual fashion:

This is how you have to learn to think of the battlefield. You always have to be imagining and projecting these in your head before you move, both yours and the enemy's. It can be hard sometimes.

Re: Anticlimactic?

Completely wrong. It's usually those that allow "freedom of speech" to mean "freedom from consequences" that turn more easily towards fascism than those who outlaw hate-speech. There is nothing to be gained by allowing people to spew all sorts of evil rhetoric, it only enhances ...

Re: Combat strength question

Answer is undoubtably the side stats panel. Thanks SineMora. So basically, if I have this right, the product of effective combat strength times attack should roughly represent a unit's combat effectiveness against a given target? And their initiative times their attack (if their initiative is highe...

Re: Fall Weiss Scenario

The Germans took significantly higher casualties than they were expecting in Poland for several reasons. I think this is a point that goes un-noticed for a lot of people: There were a lot of lessons learned in Fall Weiss, and if not for the soviets, the Poles would've inflicted significantly more l...

Re: A KV-2 vs a completely suppressed Panther

I don't see how a WOT gamer would enjoy this game. Why would they? This is not made for first-person or third-person tank-on-tank combat. This is for tactical / strategical turn based gameplay. Completely different genres. The experiences they offer will - and should be - completely different. . I ...

In general, a sort of a table with such limitations would be nice.

Re: Not all heroes work for all units????

Yeah, I was hoping that I could attach an overrun hero to a high powered fighter plane but it didn’t “work”. Figured it was worth a try! Remember overrun only triggers: #1 - if you take no losses #2 - if there is no supporting fire. Tanks earn the "steamroller" award which allows overrun ...

Re: A KV-2 vs a completely suppressed Panther

It would be really nice if units that did zero suppression and zero kills could at least kill a few units of Fuel. It feels very bad - and counterintuitive - to see an attack completely whiff and have literally zero effect on an encircled, fully-suppressed target.
