Empires of the dragon - Yi Korean list question

I just came across a most unusual troop type and want to make sure it is not a typo. Yi Korean skirmishers - page 154 of E+D; front rank - 1/2 javelin/light spear/swordsmen and back rank - 1/2 bow. This is a pretty strange mixed unit for skirmishers and must be the only light foot with swordsmen cap...

I see, Hammy, so the language "can make a simple move" does not create an exception to all the other move restrictions under the simple and complex move chart. I was reading "can make a simple move" as allowing a FRAG BG to get the hell out of the sticky situation easier. Thanks ...

FRAG - simple move to retire away

Gentlemen, on page 114 (Effect of Cohesion levels), the rules state that a FRAG BG can "make a simple move to retire away from all enemy within 12 MUs but must pass a CMT for any other move". Concerning the "simple move" part of that sentence, does this mean, for example, that an...

Mixed Battle Groups - movement question

Can one interpenetrate the stands of a mixed battle group. For example, mixed BG of KN (front rank) and Cav(rear rank) turns 90 or 180. After the turn, you would like to have the Knight stands at the "new" front of the BG. Do you have to go through contractions/expansions to accomplish thi...

Straggling Question

Please forgive me if this has been asked and answered before, but I am a bit of a straggler myself. Are the modifiers for stragglers cumulative? (pg 144) For example,if a BG is BOTH "drilled" and a skirmisher does it get a +2? If "drilled" does a MF or HF negate the -1 for being ...

As Homer Simpson would say:"DUH!" When we were playing this out I misread the rules. Indeed it says that the charge cannot be declared if it would contact an enemy BASE in frontal melee contact, not an enemy BG in frontal enemy contact. Damn, what was that again about a dull 6 year old? Oh...

Wheel and Charge Problem

I would appreciate some help with the following tactical situation. My BGs are CAV-A and HF-B facing up, my opponent’s BGs are facing down. He had KN-1 in frontal contact with CAV-A and LF- 2 on its flank. (See below): KN-1 KN -1 KN-1 KN- 1 LF- 2 LF– 2 LF- 2 CAV-ACAV-A LF – 2 LF- 2 LF- 2 CAV-ACAV-A ...

Second Moves and Threatened Flank

Hi Guys, I need help with two rules - Rule number one: Second Moves (page 75), fourth bullet "the second move by a BG or BL must be a "SIMPLE ADVANCE". OK, I think I have been playing this wrong but I thought the second move must be "directly forward" as in "straight ah...

Tournament Scoring

Hi Folks, is there a consensus yet on how to score FOG tournaments? Do you simply count attrition points gained, lost? How much for a draw, etc? Bonus for commanders killed? Thanks for all of your help.

US Interest - FOG Tournament at Gisclair Oct. 2008

Hey Guys, I believe the organizers of Gisclair, the oldest running ancients tournament in the USA, would seriously consider running a FOG tournament at its next event in October, 2008. This gives us plenty of time to prepare but I think that their commitment may be bolstered if we can secure some ou...
