I figure Panzer Corps will have run it's duration as a product in 2 years maybe more. So I can just hope we get as much DLC as we can, as soon as possible, before the usual process catches up to it.

IMHO this is the problem with different level of perspective.
Actually in operational level Light brigades are more feasible than PzIII unit. Medium armor brigades are more feasible than PzIV unit, as we won't intent to see single type of unit forming the entire division / brigade level didn't we ...

yup its different level of view
Panzer Commander and Combat Mission is different level perspective, it's squad based
to fit in the middle was Campaign series ( previously from Talonsoft ), they have Platoon level
Panzer Corps is Operational level I think with much of complexity taken out to have ...

This is both the entry level and intermediate war game. It's best at describing the various military vehicles and units from World War 2. In terms of graphics, it wasn't your 3D fancy games, but it is more fun and playful than those eye candy product. Based on remake ...

It seems to me there are alot PC wargame veterans here who used to play many SSI titles.

A drema which won´t be come true for me would look like a revival of SSI and its franchises! Many, many good (war)games in some actual engines. A dream......

Panzer Corps - Awesome, expand with other operational areas. Funnily enough my favourite easily was Fantasy General. Not because of any love of the subject I just think it was the best done of the series.

IMHO there's already demand for SP remake but pleasing the already existing crowd is a though job. While for PG classic feel is different matters because PG is relatively simple game with quality mindset.
