Newbie Question on Interface

Is there a way to pause an opponent playback (or AI turn) to look at the detailed combat results window in more...well...detail? I'm just learning the system and I can't read the results fast enough as the shoot by during a playback, so I'm unsure what modifiers are being applied. Is there any way t...

I'm guessing I'm the very definition of a newbie. I'll throw in my lot with the Umayyad Arabs (Spain) and attempt to impove on my 0-11 DAG record.
