I may be mixing the situation up (there were other units charged while fragged - not a good night for the Parthians) or we forgot to drop them a level for the flank charge. My opponent may remember. Anyway, say they went to frag by virtue of the flank charge, the question remains.

Rout direction

This game up last night in a v2 play test, but I don't think there is any meaningful difference in the rules sections on this. A column of cataphracts is fighting enemy MF to their front. The cataphracts are fragmented (long and painful story). In the melee phase some pursuing Cv charge the cataphra...

Just seen this. I can pass him your e-mail and/or 'phone number and ask him to contact you if he has not already done so. Any preference as to which?

Undrilled MF can wheel without a CMT. That's what their generals are for. Using a CN army makes you think a bit more about where your generals need to be. Usually in more places than you have generals...

Only allow moves to be in full MU increments. At the army commander level they are not measureing details. It would further remove the geometry of the game that is gamesmanship not strategy. Makes it much easier to determine if something can or cannot do something. But it would end up with players ...

Not from last year's challenge list as I didn't play there, but probably up from the last one you saw Dan. Not by much - good spot!

I think skirmishers (i.e. LH/LF) are still too powerful in FoG. Some suggestions: Reduce LH movement to 6MU. Make skirmishers less useful by allowing movement to 4MU from skirmishers only (can't shoot if marched there). Another possibility would be a -1 on the CT for bolstering skirmishers. Inhibits...

What does "could end in" on page 58 in relation to whether shock troops need to CMT not to charge mean?

Those were the reasons I ruled against it at the Challenge. Just curious if there were other views.

Voluntary Partial Interpenetration Legal?

Code: Select all

LFLFLFLFLFLFLFLF
KNKNKNKNKNKNKNKN
LFLFLFLFLFLFLFLF
Can, as above LF voluntarily partially intercept a friendly BG, (i.e. they had plenty of move distance to get through) because they want to? In this case the reason they wanted to do so was enemy troops blocked a complete interpenetration.

BHGS Challenge 2-3 April 2010 - Ascot, UK

There will be 15mm and 25mm FOG competitions at 800 and 650 points, respectively, any book. **This is the Friday and Saturday of the long Easter weekend in 2010.** We realise that the Easter weekend will not be great scheduling for some, but this year we basically had no choice for reasons beyond ou...

Quote from Si from thread http://www.slitherine.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=11900&start=20 "Rules don't cover that directly, but the principle in mind was a maximum of 2 wide so I would guess all 3 authors would allow it. FWIW I would as clearly in the spirit of the rules. Doubt we really con...

Were you already disrupted? (You can't drop two levels from shooting.)
Yes, they were already disrupted. They weren't fragged for long as I recall as they still had a melee to fight.

From last week's game:

"Well I suppose you might as well, but you need 3 6s on 3 dice to make me test"

Some dice are thrown.

"OK I'll take a test then".

Some dice are thrown.

"OK, I'll go fragged then".

Just sharing the pain.
