Re: battle of Laupen

I would view Pavia (1525 as a logical cut-off date, allowing inclusion of the earlier Italian Wars as Late ####medieval conflicts

Re: Custom Battles

Nice. Hopefully, you can implement some of the other ideas. It would be good if it there was some way to select your flanking forces and the flank upon which they arrive, Randomising the arrival of a flanking force in the ambush scenario would be good, perhaps as a scenario option in itself. Sometim...

Re: battle of Laupen

Being part Swiss I must admit to a certain Swiss bias. Sempach and the Swiss-Burgundian Wars would be excellent scenarios and, depending on your cut off dates Marignano could be worth a look. Morgarten might be too one sided though

battle of Laupen

I would like to suggest this for inclusion as one of the battles depicting the earlier Swiss. The battle was significant in the supposed Infantry Revolution of the Late Medieval era in that, like Bannockburn and similar battles it indicated that the reign of heavily armored cavalry was ending. https...

Re: Custom Battles

Though not a priority the possibility of mixed spear/crossbow units might be worth considering for the future. We have other, similar mixed troop types for ranged fire and melee. This would be another such unit. Other developments I suggested such as increasing the points values to allow larger armi...

Re: Custom Battles

A Pavisier is a crossbowman with a shield https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pavise I am referring to the mixed units of crossbows and spearmen used bty Richard the Lionheart in the 3rd Crusade Speaking of the Crusades there might be scope for a Second Crusade list with a combination of Europeans with Cr...

Also it would be nice to be able to dismount units capable of dismounting during the battle but without a remount option

Re: Custom Battles

To clarify, regarding my point 3 I meant an option for combined units os spearmen/crossbowmen, As farr as I kniow there is no specific 3rd Crusade list yet

Custom Battles

I love the new Ambush Battle feature. There are a few other improvements I would like to see for the future if they are possible 1 A "megalomaniac option increasing available points to somewhere between 3000 and 4000 allowing for really big custom battles. Additional generals to control the ext...

Re: Field of Glory II: Medieval is coming soon

FOG2 Medieval does use a scaling system to ensure that armies are suitably sized for the historical period and region. Most western feudal armies are scaled to 50% of base unit size, whereas further east some armies use 100% scaling and some (e.g. Mongols) even higher. If two armies with different ...

Re: Field of Glory II: Medieval is coming soon

Good to see Medieval starting to be covered. There are a couple of points I would like to see addressed 1 Adjustable figure scales for custom battles. Medieval battles could involve armies numbering just a few hundred a side to thousands. As opposed to FOG II it would be preferable to select the siz...

Napoleoni Empires?

I think aa Napoleonic version of Empires set between 1790 and 1815 (or somewhat later eg 1830) with a Napoleonic version of FOG II to fight the battles would work extremely well. For me it is the tactical battles that really make or break this kind of game. For this period I would have monthly turns...

Re: A couple of things...

I think FOG Empires is much better than RTW especially with FOG II to fight the tactical battles. Always room for improvement though :)

Re: Lusitanian Depravity

Depraved leaders could be rather fun. Rome had plenty of them as one example. I agree an assassination/coup feature would be a wonderful addition even if your benevolent and wise ruler could be replaced with be depraved and genocidal maniac. A much greater likelihood when your civilization becomes d...

Re: Is this supposed to happen?

Historically that kind of collapse could and indeed did occur and sometimes suddenly. Consider as an extreme example the Late Bronze Age Collapse or the Fall of the Western Roman Empire. The way Alexander the Great's Empire broke apart into the Successor States. In recent history the break up of the...

Diplomacy and negotiations

It would be good to have more diplomatic detail in this game. I would suggest Trade concessions Offering or demanding tribute territorial concessions ceding or offering regions or provinces A more detailed negotiation round (or series of rounds) might occur as each side makes demands, offers and con...

Re: All of my generals are terrible. How do I get new ones??

To be fair I think there is some historical accuracy in this kind of thing. Some nations historically did have a clutch of useless generals at the worst possible time. Archamenid Persia at the time of Darius III and Alexander's invasion. That said Darius does seem to have had a handful of talented c...
