battle of Laupen

Post by Lukew »

I would like to suggest this for inclusion as one of the battles depicting the earlier Swiss. The battle was significant in the supposed Infantry Revolution of the Late Medieval era in that, like Bannockburn and similar battles it indicated that the reign of heavily armored cavalry was ending.

Fear not, Laupen will be included in a future dlc.

Being part Swiss I must admit to a certain Swiss bias. Sempach and the Swiss-Burgundian Wars would be excellent scenarios and, depending on your cut off dates Marignano could be worth a look. Morgarten might be too one sided though

As a historical refight yes. But it works quite well as an ambush scenario. (Which is essentially an ambush, but not an overwhelmingly devastating one).

Interesting thoughts on the handling of Morgarten

I guess the Burgundian Wars will be part of FoG2: Medieval, while the Italian Wars as a whole (thus Marignano that I'd love to play) won't, as the latter ones belong to the Renaissance.

I would view Pavia (1525 as a logical cut-off date, allowing inclusion of the earlier Italian Wars as Late ####medieval conflicts

When all DLCs are released, the game will cover up to 1500 AD. Therefore any battles up to and including 1500 may well be covered as Epic battles.

The Italian wars are part of the Renaissance as they made it spread across Europe. Francis I of France, king at the battle of Pavia, can't be considered as 'medieval'. The cut-off date for the end of the Middle Ages chosen by Historians is way earlier than 1525 : 1453 (the fall of Constantinople), 1492 (Columbus' expedition) or 1483 (Louis XI's death, "the last medieval king").

ca 1500 (at the latest).

Could there be a possibility of an updated "Pike and Shot" called "Field of Glory II: Pike and Shot"? :D

That would be nice, but I am afraid that I don't know anything about future game plans beyond FOG2 Medieval.

Perhaps you could send subliminal PMs to RBS?

"Dear RBS: Here are some ideas for scenarios in the 'Swords and Scimitars' DLC. FIELD OF GLORY 2: PIKE AND SHOT What do you think of them? FIELD OF GLORY 2: PIKE AND SHOT Looking forward to hearing from you." FIELD OF GLORY 2: PIKE AND SHOT
