That's sad. Where did everyone go?
I terms of why people left and what they're playing instead.

Hello, is anyone there?
Do people still play FoG?
This forum seems awfully quiet.

Out of curiosity, how many entries do you have for FoG (AM)?

Re: Light Horse - how many generals?
I played (read was defeated in a humiliating manner) by a Mongol army with 1xIC and 1xFC under v1.
The IC is good for shoot outs and maybe get a third general if you don't have only superior troops.

Re: Cataphracts
4's are more agile, but if you're not drilled/doing more than charging... That said, if you're superior there is not much more that 6 can do (esp. for 40 points), superior + heavy armour give 4's enough brawn. If you're average though, you probably need some bulk to make up for it. I never bother wi...

Qin in terracota
Good morning. I'll be painting a Qin army in a rush at some point and I thought the fastest would be to base coat them all terracotta, base and make them pretty later. Obviously I can't just leave it at that, but I like the idea. So any ideas on how to leave the figures terracotta (or some other var...

Re: Later Seleucid for newbie
First up, if you're looking for an ancient army for the sake of playing an ancient army; go with whatever interests you (e.g. if you like Sun Tzu, Warring States is interesting). Most of the armies associated with empires were well organised and can be made to work. Keep in mind that Seleucid presen...

Re: Generals
I usually field use 1 FC and three TC's. Mostly because it's hard change much from 4 TC's in most of my adapted V1 lists.
TC's are nice to trow in, but I find a FC is good because my attack forces are usually 3 BG's.

Re: New Kingdom Egyptian
I know, but LH would still be ideal though.
I'd take some of the LF in 4's (if possible) to fit into cracks, which they'll probably end up needing to. More or less half the BG's (so a third of the bases).

Re: New Kingdom Egyptian
You could have the chariots as the centre of attention (I know you want to). They will need skirmishers (preferably LH, but LF would do) to add some shooting dice and could benefit from some bowmen acting as bait, i.e. give your enemy something to fight, which runs away an gets them to over extended...

What colours do I use?
I bought some Russian spearmen for my Late Medieval German army (wanted some variety and thought the HRE could have had some slavs). The other battle group is in red and black (proper German figures). The figures in question are Essex EMED30. Question is what colours do you think I should paint the ...

Re: Medieval Burgundian 1460 800pt
Guns are cool, I find they don't keep up with longbows though, maybe handy support for Xbows? I would not have more than 1 BG. Don't try and skirmish/ambush with one group of handgunners, thier time is better spent giving -1's to what ever your longbows are aiming at. As long as the plan is not to t...

Re: Later Seleucid 900 points
If you want to go mass pike then early Successor is likely better.
If you don't want more pike go for "combined arms" which means: stick to later Seleucid, drop some pike (3 BG or less, I run 1 BG of 12), take a second BG of manouverable legionares and more mounted.

Against things that are protected (which we should see more of) cats are better off than amoured cavalry. So win.

Re: Later Seleucid 900 points
I agree, no MF, I used to play with 2 BG (tracians). I found the MF in this army are either too good to be allowed to take terrain (get skirmished or avoided) and achieve nothing but wasting points or they are too few and end up dying and costing you a flank, which you should have left alone. Note M...

Re: Seleucids - How does this army handle?
I run Later Seleucid as my standard anciet army (have done since just before FoG came out 8) ). I go for combined arms, 12pk and 2x4 legionares working with 2x2 elephants, 2x4 cats and 1x4 elite cavalry (only have 8 bases of cats and it does not matter all that much), plus some skirmishers to round ...

Re: Ancient Avatars Please
Does not really matter, but would be nice.
Is there any possibility of different sets of avatars we could then choose from (e.g. Roman, Greek, Egyptian, Allies, Axis, Space, Fantasty, etc.)?

Thank you, that is exactly what I was looking for. I'll decide on V2 after a few V1 games with those changes.
