I think he was having  at your expense. You don't say  The most celebrated wargames names dying were the great old names Charles Grant , Tony Bath and Peter Young , well into their 70s-80s, with no sign of lead poisoning. And if they did have one, it would be characterised by a co...

I think quite the opposite. The more the merrier, especially with irregular armies. Why have your units (or battlegroups) all in the same position, while if I use figures from several manufacturers I can get a variety of poses? Actually sometime in the 80s regulation appeared banning the use of figures, so practically all manufactureres switched to pewter or other tin alloys. For some reason model soldiers in Germany are called Zinnfiguren. Old figures in any case were not entirely made of lead, but of some lead alloyes wi...

Carthage, please don't even think of that! That's the GW approach: "Buy the Rulez, buy the Figurez, buy the Bookz, all in the same place. All our products are the official ones, all the rest is illegal"!

But cheaper than the Maurikian ones with kontos, bow and darts IIRC. I went into an archaeological dig in the oldest part of my wargaming library and among a few Featherstone and Charles Grant books I found that Purple Airfix Guide, just beside the Peltast and Pila rules. I'm getting old, for sure!...

Hello! I have 2 large 1:300 armies made up of H&R figures, Late Imperial Roman, and Gallic. I made these a long time ago, in the old WRG 5th/6th Edition times. At the time I went against the rules and based them in 20mm base widths, with larger scales number of figures, so in practice this amoun...
