Please recommend a manufacturer

Post by rayfredjohn »

Guys

I need to supplement my figure collection for a FOG army.

I'm looking for a manufacturer that produces figures suitable for;

Islemen, heavy foot, armoured, carrying heavy weapons.

Highlanders, medium foot, sword and bow

looked on the ubiquitous Essex site but didn't find anything much.

hope you can help

Not sure about the Highlanders, but Essex do make the Islesmen. I have just sent for sample packs and they are rather nice:

The ones you want are:

MER21 Gallowglass, heavy axemen.
MER22 Bonnachte or Gallowglas medium/heavy axemen.

You can see them on

http://www.essexminiatures.co.uk/gal_mer20.html

Gallowglaich were, of course, Islesmen mercenaries used in Ireland - and are also correct for Islesmen at home.

Odd,I used Essex for our Scots Isles army, they have a good mix of spears and axe armed figures also you can use some of the Irish and Renaisance ranges .There are some photos of the army on Tim Porters site ,battle reports/derby 2006,they are pretending to be Leidang

Two Dragons are the best for this period. Many poses, very dynamics :) ... But very hard to obtain! :(

The other thing I must point out, having used Scots Isles at Leeds last year ,they are not for the faint hearted,I had 2 big wins on Saturday and 2 big losses Sunday,of course it could be just me.
I found some highlander figures in the Essex renaisance range by the way
