Jagged Alliance Flashback on Kickstarter
Fans of the Jagged Alliance series may want to take a look at this new kickstarter for Full Control's new "prequel" to the original. Having secured the license from bitControl, they are talking up making a faithful re-creation of the original game, set in the period when AIM was just getting started ...

Re: Next Spartan type game
I'd be happy with the straightforward Spartan/Troy engine and a few customization options:
1) A random map generator. This would be so cool. I've been playing around a little with the modding tools, so I can see a random map generator would be a non-trivial task, but the only bad thing about this ...

New Terrain
The description of Rise of Rome says that several new terrain types are introduced with that expansion. Supposing instead I get a later expansion, will the new terrain be included in it?

Holy Horde, Batman!
I've noticed that battlegroups are valued at the same rate in the scenario designer regardless of the number of the men in the unit. What impact does the number of bodies in a unit have on combat, if any? Presumably it affects % loss checks, but is that all?

Re: The Slitherine Group and Ageod Join Forces
Kind of been expecting this. It makes a lot of sense. Maybe at some point we can look forward to a cool Punic Wars game that actually addresses naval combat.

Re: Patch times out
Should I assume from this post that if I buy an expansion for my just-purchased copy of FoG, I should not attempt to install it, but just register it?

Re: Game Crash Revisited
Yep, that fixed the cosmetic error, and best of all, I could use my 1.2 save.
One final thing I've noticed, and I'm not sure if it is cosmetic, reflective of something underlying, or a design intention: in the combat report, "Casualties Received" does not match the enemy's "Casualties Inflicted ...

Re: Game Crash Revisited
Yeah, a few minor things will crop up, but the fatal crash seems to be fixed: I've done 3 different civs (Israel, Dahae, Lower Egypt), and no crashes. Be interesting to know what the error was.

Re: Game Crash Revisited
The 1.2 fix appears to have addressed the crashing problem: I took 6 cities without a crash in my test, and will check other civs later.
However, a new bug has crept in with the fix: on the "Game Results" screens, the tabs have been corrupted, so instead of the names, casualties, cities, etc being ...

Game Crash Revisited
There has been no response to my posting under the thread "Game Crashes Intermittently..." It would be nice to know that somebody had actually read the thing.

Re: Games crashes intermittently when I take a city
Same problem, crash upon taking a city. Very annoying. In most cases, the game crashes as soon as one city is captured and I try to mouse over it. Some civs crash after the second city capture. Please read the updates below, as I have been devoting a few hours of my time to checking this out ...

A Question About Expansions
Do the various expansions for the game include any new or modified rules, or are they basically new gfx sets with additional scenaria?

The old original D&D rules (the ones that came out in '76, or was it '75) had morale rules, so every fight was not necessarily to the death. Unfortunately, fantasy wargames (and many other wargames as well, now that I think of it) rarely incorporate them, making for incredible body counts.

Louis Jordan, "Choo-choo ch-boogie."
Jazz, more or less -- boogie-woogie if you want to be rigorous. This particular style of music was critical in the formation of both rock and roll and bee-bop, from which latter we get hard bop and cool jazz. I defy anyone to listen to it and not tap their feet ...

I recall reading somewhere-or-other (perhaps an old S&T article) that what made German tactics so effective was that they combined the infiltration tactics of 1918 with the shock effects of armor, and had c3 capability sufficient to deal with the mobile actions that resulted. This separated them ...
