Ian, Regarding your splitting and merging question, please take a look at this thread: http://www.slitherine.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=29983 Answering your other question, the one concerning production times. If you are upgrading one unit into another, it always become frozen for the number of turn...

Can you show an example of a unit splitting and combining if possible just so I can see how this new function works? Looking at the production times and costs below it looks like it is better for a player to purchase Divisions then combine them into Corps? It takes 4 turns to produce an Infantry Div...

I'd like a copy Dave. Looked at pics on Matrix and I like the extra cities added. I thought Cherbourg would qualify as a port? Also as a Brit I thought you'd have a Dunkirk in there <BG> Not sure how ports work in this game. Can you only add ports if there is a city on the coast? Can you have a Port...

Re : the posts by aspharanx. I think the main query is why Matrix chose to add UK or any EU VAT/Customs Duty to any purchase/download by anyone that lives in the EU or the Uk as in my case? The only reason that I can think they do this is if they have registered as a company in the UK? Only companie...

Charles C Sharp and a person called Luis Rotundo wrote many historical articles for Europa on Soviet OOB and units. Its where I first learnt that the Soviets in 41 had Motorised Divisions and Motor Rifle Divisions and that they were different. Pretty sure that Galantz has also commented on this. By ...

If anyone is really interested in which soviets units were moved from easterm MD's (including the Siberian MD which you didn't mention Dave) then possibly the Europa boardgame series by GRD is the place to go. These games covered practically all of WWII at the Divisional and sub Divisional level. Ye...

For what its worth on this Siberian thing Dave my sources suggests - Central Asian MD 2 of the 4 Rifle Divs moved - 194 (Mtn) Sep 41 and 238 Oct 41 Trans Baikal MD 3 of the 4 Rifle Divs moved - 65 Oct 41 93 Nov 41 114 Oct 41 Far Eastern MD 5 of the 16 Rifle Divs moved (21,26,32,92,78) although 92 di...

Adding escorts to a naval unit could be fixed by using an idea already brought up. (attaching sub units to land units) Instead of buying a Leader you buy an Escort and allow these to be attached to a naval unit. This would have a range and a defensive only bonus strength. Unfortunately the escorts w...

Ok I follow you. What you are saying is that sea ports will be effectively in all sea hexes. So in the map of France I posted Cherbourg and any naval unit would be in the hex to the NE of hex A. Therefore ports and naval units won't get in the way of the ground war and ground units? Have I picked th...

Pity about hex A. That would have been a perfect way too represent Cherbourg port. Is there a limit to Garrisons? Can they be built in any size and number? Stacking? Can you clarify something. Is it one unit type per hex or one unit maximum? Can you have one air unit, one naval unit and one ground u...

http://postthatpic.com/files/1696/D%20Day.jpg I've cut and pasted a portion of the France map. I realise that this is still a 'work in progress' but are the hexes A-D really playable land hexes? Hex A would appear to be Cherbourg? Nice modeling if it is. Just for fun I added some of the historical ...

Just a thought inspired by some of the posts above but did Slitherine consider adding in a National Morale factor to decide when countries surrender? I realise from playing lots of boardgames that this is possibly more suited to WW1 but it might also be applicable to WW2? I also realise that losing ...

I'm not 100% convinced either that Britain would have fought on if Germans had somehow got past the Royal Navy, somehow built and resupplied a bridgehead and then broke out and seized London. The fall of London would have been a serious blow and in fact who is to say that if Germans had threatened L...
