Re: Some thoughts from a Pacific General fan

Why the title? As a fan of the civilization series i have to say this is a different game. Does that help? And for your comparison to Pacific General or Panzer General: This is a different game. They have similarities but also different approaches. So there is no reason for "But in that game it...

Re: IJN Road to Manila: What to buy?

Engineers also decrease the enemies efficiency (lower casualties for your important troops). Best order, if the enemy is entrenched, is engineer, artillery ( and ships if possible) and then infantry or tanks. If not entrenched switch artillery (and ships) with engineer for lower casualties for your ...

Re: IJN Road to Manila: What to buy?

Normally your Zero shouldn't have this much damage but no problem. You have to ask yourself if you want to get the secondary on the airfield in the southwest or not. You can achieve this with 2 Tac Bomber + Zero as Decoy for the AA or you can use Paratroopers. The second one cost you 100 RP (80 for ...

Re: Torpedo vs destroyer

The ship probably did not move. Then you get extraordinary results. Even against destroyer. If I remember correctly the game treats every naval unit that did not physically move as being moved. This to avoid the players having to move all stationary naval unit 1 hex to avoid being caught as a dead d...

Re: Completely stucked on Japanese Campaign - Java mission

I hope you bought 2 Tac Bombers in the earlier missions. Place same in the northeast and place a cruiser to the 3 ship fleet in the northeast. Then it's up to your amount of resources. If you have enough buy 2 battleships and 2 destroy for the fleet in the south. If you have not enough buy a mix of ...

Re: My Review of the Various Specializations

Some ideas to make the Specialisations more useful/noticable: Japan Banzai Charge : When used, the opponent is treated as having the "Quick Retreat" trait, meaning it will retreat when expecting casualties >30% of current hitpoints. Bushido Code : Additonal effect increases unit attack as...

Re: Fantastic game - here's my first impressions

What i don't like in the IJ campaign is most time the lack of an airfield. Even in the last mission so i can't use properly the advanced planes. And for this reason i found the Aerospace specialization not really worth it.

Re: Destroyers- Must have been on Sale at Wal-mart

You're not really supposed to engage the Japanese fleet in naval combat here. Philippine Sea was a carrier battle, like Coral Sea and Midway. I guess if you have put your emphasise on Naval forces from the start it might be possible, but a quick well executed air attack will certainly be more cost-...

Re: Midway Japan

I think there are 3 subs. Two in the south and one in the north. I also did not get the second objective with all carriers sunk when there are only 3 carriers in Midway. Last campaign with Japan (which hopefully will be debugged with the patch) i let one carrier escape in Coral Sea, because destroyi...

Re: Midway Japan

Did you destroyed both carriers in the Coral Sea? When i destroyed both carriers there i only get 3 in Midway. If one escapes then you have 4 carriers. That was my observation in my 2 Japan campaigns.
