The Update should not have changed or or moved your update.exe. We are not changing how our update system works. It could be that your Anti-virus has flagged it for some reason. Try unzipping the attached update files into your install folder for Pike and Shot Campaigns.

Just a shot in the dark, but did you try running it in English?

Which version of the installer do you have? Could you give us the full name of the exe you are using?

Could you give us more info to what is going on. The previous poster sounded like they could not start the game from the Launch Menu, with the links for the Manual and Updating. Is this where you are having the problem, or once you are in the game trying to start a scenario?

Checking if there is an update usually doesn't require firewall access, but downloading the exe does. So getting past the first check does not mean that the update.exe for SWiE has been given access. Do you have you have other Matrix Games/Slitherine titles on your laptop? Did you check that the Tru...

Can you start from the Quick Start shortcut in the Start Menu? or have you tried running the StrategicWarInEurope.exe from the game folder?

It sounds like it is being blocked by your firewall. Make sure 'TrueUpdate Client', the update.exe file in the game folder, is allowed access.
