Re: Beta 1.6.0 bug
I have had no other issues other than that (other than being new to the game and not very good), so its a good beta.

Beta 1.6.0 bug
HI I just brought and loaded this today on steam, as far as I can tell I am running 1.6.0 (the credits screen says so).
This might be a newb problem but in winter the map isn't changing to show the weather, any ideas?

Yes but aren't these fortifications you mention just what is meant by the steps of entrenchment in the game? Wooden spikes and ditches are not forts it is world war one style trenches etc and a lot of what you mention sounds like this. An impressive feat but not a fortification as the game represent...

Leningrad Fort
Does anyone know why we have a fort their in GS? I wasn't aware of any major fortifications in Leningrad, compared to say Sevastopol. It makes it rather hard to take which although in the real war the Germans had trouble doing it, in the game it seems to require a bit more resource than seems reason...

In GS v2.0 the max consumption of armor is 5 (not 6). So panther's / tiger's use 4. :) King tiger's and Maus'es use 5. Pz IV use 3. Pz III use 2 or 3. yes, but don't you have to double this?, one for the tanks move and again for the attack (unless of course you don't need to move). so to move and a...

I think the poster is partially right about the oil situation. I would like to see the German Navy use less oil (or none). Why do you say? They ran on diesel (subs and some of the bigger ships) and crude oil. Tanks = petrol, planes = aviation fuel. From all of my reading of world war tow I never say...

Do you know how many of the 150 German panzers were destroyed? Becasue that is ground attack. Shooting at them untill they go away is shock, which decreases organisation. Remember for tanks anything other than a direct hit will do nothing (with 8inch shells anyway) ,the same applies to bombing. Ship...

shawkhan, you points are valid. But D-day is not quite the same as being able to reduce steps of off divisions willy nilly, and hard to simulate in this game. How many men in a Garrison and an Infantry division, and hence how many would be killed buy a one step loss from bombardment?. What about pla...

Actually my thoughts are that Italy needs to be boosted a bit. Not so much in quality but in infantry numbers. They had 600,000 troops ready to invade Yugoslavia at the start of the war, so the numbers where there (though not the quality). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royal_Italian_Army_%281940%E2%8...

I have had some more thought and now think that in the new G.S.2.0 in my educated opinion Battleship groups and Destroyer groups should have their ground attack set to 0, and keep the shock as is. So they can decrease entrenchment and decrease organisation, which sounds historically accurate, but no...

The other reason why the Germans sent units to France to re-equip is that they had been knocked down to what would be 1 or 2 steps in the game. Moving the units away from the fount in this case makes sense. Getting a new artillery piece or some better pants doesn't mean an infantry unit should need ...

Cities and forts
I think that the code needs to be changed so that when destroyers and battleships are bombarding forts or cities that they can take damage as in real life these areas had coast defense guns etc. The free damage that the allies can do with shore bombardment really does get kind of silly after a while.

I will have to look in my Janes tonight. But the fleet composition is key. A destroyer group probably contains a few light cruisers, and a few fleet destroyers. But predominantly it would contain lighter vessels; Frigates, corvettes, old destroyers etc. As for battleships main guns. http://en.wikipe...
