AAR: Rico's 'Khalkin Gol' scenario

Post by PoorOldSpike »

AI Jap attack versus the Russians, 1939.
SPOILER ALERT-
The Japs attack my hilltop outpost from three directions along the blue arrows, so I order my tank group on the right to blunt his armoured spearhead that's trying to come across the bridge-

Aha, later I get a bunch of new tank reinfs, so I launch a counterattack down the red arrows-

That's a bingo! In the dim light my tanks punch into the heart of the jap defence to capture the 3rd flag-
Summary- great scenario..;)

TACTICAL NOTE-
For the early part of the game, the human-Russians only have two tanks and an armoured car, but the Japs have 6 tanks, so I dropped mortar smoke on the bridge (below) and picked off the Jap tanks one by one as they trundled out of the smoke as if on a conveyor belt, it's better than taking on all 6 at once, hehe.
It's a tactic I use in most games, just lay down a smoke cloud then zap anything that comes out of it-
