Editing Scenario Briefings

Post by conboy »

I find it is somewhat easy to edit the Scenario Briefings in a Campaign by opening up the .txt files and editing that way. Saves a lot of time moving files back and forth between the Campaign directory and the Scenario Editor. One thing, though, that's worthy of note for someone working on a campaign and trying to update all the Scenario Briefings in the .txt file:

You must set up all the briefings in the Scenario editor and assign a commander for each slide of the briefing. If you add slides in the .txt editor, they won't show up if you didn't generate it in the Scenario editor and assign a commander to deliver that slide... They might look fine in the .txt file but without a commander assigned to that slide, it won't show up when you play the Scenario in the campaign.

just a thang

Yes. What I do is to get a copy of the commander's picture (the large version) from this folder:

C:\Program Files\Slitherine\Order of Battle - WWII\Order of Battle - WW2_64_Data\Content\Graphics\Commanders

Here is the sergeant from Boot Camp:

This file is 256 x 256 pixels. I resize it to 512 x 512, then I crop it to 512 x 415 which is the optimal size for popup messages. When cropping, I preserve the entire head, including hat. This leaves out some badges and medals sometimes but I prefer that to truncated heads. I also turn the image to grayscale but that is just my preference; you can leave it in color.

This picture is ready for inclusion in a scenario with a popup message:

Good idea for a feature request, because that is what it would have to be in that case.
