hero assignment

curious where some of you vets assign these Hero's? First Strike, Double Support( does this work with the big Mortar you can purchase at the start of Barbarossa), First Aid, and finally, Provacateur? thanks for your thoughts/advice.

First strike - on one of my Spats as their biggest weakness is that they shoot last pretty much all the time when they attack. Might be better on a Pioneer though to ensure 1st strike when assaulting fortified hexes (they ignore entrenchment but the enemy still get the iniative bonus)
Double support - i have this on a standard 15cm at present. But would would have some use on an 88! I don't think it'll be terribly useful in the karl garet (super mortar) due to lack of ammo...plus does it even get support fire? (Gustav does not)
First aid - on a Pioneer, it only works with infantry so best bang for buck is here!
I don't have a provacateur hero and not sure what I'd do with it. Probably my best armoured unit...

thanks. I was thinking a recon unit for the Provacateur Hero? they r cheap and flee. when u say 88, do you mean anti-air, artillery, anti-tank?

Hm, I did not get Provocateur and First Aid yet nor do I know what they do, so I cannot answer on that.

First Strike I have personally put on a Pioneer Squad to cut down a bit on their losses, but AT units are also very good as Horseman explained. You could also consider putting it on a plane, especially the Fighter/Bomber.

As for Double Support, it depends on what you are threatened most by. Personally I had best experience putting it on an AT units, but in some scenarios I liked to put it on a 15cm artillery or a Wespe/Hummel.

The 88mm Flak (can switch into AT too and that with double support would be strong)

thanks. yes I started a new campaign and am getting these rare heros that I haven't a clue how to use.
