Ultimate Challenge mod
Hi all, this is my "private" mod for vanilla German campaign, currently its still beta/test version.
First I would like to say HUGE thanks to game creators and mod-makers for the amazing job they done!
The main points and differences from original game are:
- all heavy (2t+) guns have move = 0 (arty, AT & AA);
- SS panzers (historically) have strength 15;
- soft cap = OFF, NO heroes at all, expensive elite replacements;
- limitations on crossing the rivers (use bridges or bridge engineers) and climbing the mountains for almost all types of movement except LEG, even more strict limits (comparing to general "tracked") for heavy (50t+) vehicles;
- SS units only as auxiliaries;
- tech stats of units are reworked mostly in the way of fixing mistakes, not for developing completely new playing system;
- ULTIMATE level is added to menu options;
- "music" environment from BE;
- huge amount of units added (mainly for Germany and USSR);

Recommended difficulty level for the main campaign - FIELDMARSHAL, for a single scenario - ULTIMATE.

And I'd forget to mention that there's also one major difference - there are no heroes given! (well, you probably could get some, but each one requires x10 more experience than in native game)

So it feels to me more in a spirit of a good old Panzer General DOS

Uzbek kindly suggested to add a switch for CAV-2-INF, so now its done using riflemen icons; also the tuning of tech stats and basic Panzer campaign maps is going on - I think now its almost well playable! As for using with Grand Campaigns I suppose after activating the mod with JSGME you just need to copy "gamerules.pzdat" file from Data to the DLC you want to play.

One general note: my main intention is not to cover all possible models of vehicles or ships/planes but just add what I found missed and would like to see in the native game. So I try to keep it simple but stylish

Several notes about soviet equipment:
> rocket artillery stats have been greatly increased (historically);
+ railroad arty TM-3-12 (=280mm K5);
+ arty 152mm ML-20 with range 4;
+ Tachanka with a switch to foot mg crew (thanks to Lennis for this idea);
+ "Saboteurs" - special infantry with CAMO trait;
+ currently non-purchasable KV-220 and KV-100.
So you can have a good variety of equipment for playing MP battles!

2-Regarding my MOD, wow this is exhausting, I think I will publish it just like this, maybe I will make some arrangements for it.

@lennis, even if you decide not to continue, please publish what you have finished. It's good to see the ideas of others; it sometimes inspires new ideas.

Well, in case that almost all additional equipment that I wanted to see in it has been already in, I do fine tuning of unit stats and AI behave at particular maps; also planning two fork sub-mods: one I'd mentioned and second I want to create more strategical set closer to War of the World 2 mod but still using basic native campaign maps.lennis29 wrote: ↑Sun Apr 19, 2020 2:44 pm1- how are you advancing or working with your MOD, I mean what new things have you done?
