Getting better objectives

Each captured objective gives your faction one Legacy point per turn for the rest of the game. These are assigned basically in a random fashion based on some game factors. However, if I have some crappy objectives far from home, here's what I do. I use the diplomacy screen to contact their owner faction. Then I "Relinquish Objective" for that region, which usually has 100% chance of success. Hopefully, I'll get a better replacement objective from the RNG gods. Once I had three in a faction right next to mine and I got them all. Good luck!

If you're feeling extra mercenary, you might even manage to get something for it.

I just had this happen, while trying to give up several objectives that I did not want. So there is a downside to this tactic.

That was like one turn's worth of Legacy. I'll probably just pound them into dog food.

Sounds to me like that messenger had a bit too much to drink before he delivered that message.

From what I can piece together, Parisii was sovereign when I sent the proposal, but then became a client state. I guess that the algorithm couldn't handle it.

So I crushed them and their Protector.
