Unable to deploy a newly purchased units
I'm playing the Kiev scenario. I've purchased a new infantry unit. It's in the undeployed unit list, but I can't deploy it anywhere. According to the manual, I should be able to place in on a supply source, which in this scenario is one of the airfields. I have the unit selected, I'm clicking on the supply sources but the unit doesn't deploy. I have enough core slots and the units is not over the limit. Any help?

Airfields are used to deploy aircraft. To deploy a ground unit, you need a city/town/village hex.ivanov wrote: ↑Wed Apr 08, 2020 10:34 pm I'm playing the Kiev scenario. Re: Unable to deploy a newly purchased units
Thanks for the reply. It's a bit misleading since those airfields also serve as supply sources for the land units ( can't locate any other German supply source on the map ).
I assume that if I capture a Soviet supply source it will become a supply source for the Germans?

Re: Unable to deploy a newly purchased units
It's not really explained, but the way I understand it, it works this way to have more flexibility for supply hexes.
Meaning a supply hex and a purchase/deploy hex are two different things.
The former can exist out on the field or on a hill. And armies cannot be mobilized from the positions, but supplies can be distributed from them. This is a supply hex on a clear tile.
The later will only exist on an urban hex. Village, town, or city. Armies can be mobilized from these positions because of the extra infrastructure that urban development provides. This is a supply hex on a city tile.
That's my understanding at least.

Re: Unable to deploy a newly purchased units
Basically it should be a city/town with a rail connection.

Re: Unable to deploy a newly purchased units
The rail requirement is too much.
And I wouldn't exclude village, because it's still developed terrain. Much more so than any countryside or forest or hill.
As always, too many subrules is bad. Urban/developed vs natural terrain. That's enough subrules.
Airfields are just wonky in general, and probably need some new rules to correct.
1. Disbanding air units required supply hex... purchasing air units and placing air units does not.
2. Air units are immune to encirclement. If their base airfield is encircled, they should suffer some kind of penalty. Not replenishing their ammunition at the very least. And certainly not being able to buy replacements.
