Silent crash on start

The game doesn't start, just blinks on run attempt and closes. Diagnostics found no problem. The game did run without any problems two days ago. Reinstalling the game didn't solve the problem. I'll appreciate help on this.

I am having the same issue, launching through GOG Galaxy 2.0 as well as the .exe, even using RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR.

I have uninstalled, reinstalled, and attempted repair. I have also made sure to close down ALL other unnecessary programs to no avail.

Here is my code as well... it seems to have something to deal with CSteamworks.dll under plugin not being found, but I did a manual search for it and it's in the correct location of "GOG Galaxy/Games/Battlestar Galactica Deadlock/BSG_Data/Plugins/"

How to get a DirectX Diagnostic file:

1. click on "START"
2. click "run"
3. type in "dxdiag" and click "OK"
4. check through the tabs and perform all tests
5. click "Save all Information..." and save the text file to a location of your choice

We prefer that DxDiag files be posted as message attachments rather than pasted into the body of the post.

once the report has been made, just zip the file then attach it to your post as it's a Txt file which is then not permitted to attach to the forum, where as a zip file is.

Same deal. Through GOG. Default directory.

Fallback handler could not load library C:/Program Files (x86)/GOG Galaxy/Games/Battlestar Galactica Deadlock/BSG_Data/Mono/CSteamworks etc...

no game related error's in the logs, advice would be do a clean boot with nothing other than steam and your AV running and see if that makes it work, as something else in the mix at startup may be conflicting with something else, as far as i know, GOG doesn't need or use steam files but not 100% sure of the error either but will pass it on to staff support all the same, pm has been sent and asked for a staff member to post a reply or the developer to look into it for you, good luck and sorry i couldn't find a solution for you atm

Thanks for the prompt reply. The only AV I use is Windows Defender which comes with Win 10, common sense is my main form of protection :P

As for startup programs and rebooting, I have done both and only had my Nvidia drivers running after a restart, and I have even gone into MSCONFIG and Task Manager to ensure I had a minimal startup program imprint, same thing still occurs.

I have the same problem, it started with the release of patch 1.4.95. I have the GOG version. It looks like a module named CSteamworks.dll is missing

once the report has been made, just zip the file then attach it to your post as it's a Txt file which is then not permitted to attach to the forum, where as a zip file is.
I was wondering what you make of this.... please remember that I bought the game through GOG and am launching through their Galaxy 2.0 launcher. What I am seeing here is that it does a serial check and does not find a serial file, I am pretty sure this would cause the DRM to close the game on launch, and if this is the case as I suspect what would be the workaround or fix?

No problem, was just reviewing what others were posting and found another commonality that I thought would be worth reporting, it also makes sense to me but I did not program the game or DRM, so.

I believe I have found the culprit here... its a patch issue with GOG Galaxy 2.0

I ran the game under MINIMAL startup after reboot on patch 1.4.95 and still got a crash with the same errors as previously reported

I then went to the GOG Galaxy 2.0 launcher, manually downloaded the 1.4.94 patch, turned off automatic updates, and selected the 1.4.94 update from the menu (Left - Right slider looking icon -> Manage Installation -> Configure -> Installation -> Uncheck at bottom "Automatically update to newest version" -> Select Update 1.4.94 -> Click Ok)

After completing the above I restarted my PC and ran it again under minimal startup, and it launched no problem, no errors. I restarted my PC again this time under normal settings and even added in a few extra background processes and it still worked.

I am going to recommend others try this if they are using the GOG Galaxy 2.0 launcher and see if it works for them as a temporary workaround until a new solution can be developed.

I am having the same issue. I purchased through GoG yesterday. I tried to install by downloading the offline backup game installers which were prepatched to 1.4.95. It would crash immediately and I received an error about missing serial in the log file. I downloaded GoG galaxy and tried the fix for reversion (because the offline downloaders didn't have an unpatched version) and was able to launch the game.

Today I opened the game screen in GOG launcher and the patch was downloaded automatically. The games works again. Thanks.
