Cold Wars Doubles Round One (Pics)

Post by Hepius »

My second Field of Glory tournament and my second second-to-last finish!

Whoohooo! Can anyone say streak? I think this is the start of something big.

Round one: Steve Payne and I (War of the Roses) take on Harvey Harmon and Danny Weitz (Scots Isles and Highlands).

More reports on the way.

Hey Matt!

Great report and photos, like the comments, too! Having myself relied on the English longbow to do the biz and seeing them roll handfulls of misses, I can truly empathise!

What was your list? I run a Yorkist Pretender and miss out the Irish altogether except sometimes a BG of LF kern, and I take the pikemen, maxing out on longbow and men-at-arms

My partner made the list. I'm a novice with longbow armies.

This might not be 100% correct, but it was something like this (100AP)

3xTC
1xally TC

1x4 ally dismounted men-at-arms (armored, superior, h.wpn)
1x8 ally longbow

4x4 dismounted men-at-arms
3x8 longbow
1x8 militia longbow
1x4 currours (armored, ave, cavalry, lance, sword)
1x4 border horse (prot, ave, light horse, lance, sword)
1x8 border spear (prot, ave, heavy foot, d-spear)
2x6 Irish kerns (prot, ave, med foot, light spear)
1x6 Irish kerns (light foot, jav/light spear)

I found the militia longbow to be a pain in the ass to use. They did a decent job of shooting up some ave German mercenary knights in one battle. The Kern medium foot were useful, if a little hard to maneuver. Good rear support. The currours were good for rear support, and keeping enemy medium foot honest. I didn't like having a single four stand unit of light horse. I was always out-skirmished.
