Moscow 41, winning early / bonus objectives?

Post by Tomcat84 »

So I think I captured my last objective on turn 23. It was actually the northern primary objective (Kimry) as I had left that to deal with until after securing everything else. I was expecting a victory screen but instead got the message "if you capture the bonus objectives you can change the course of the war".

Now I thought I already had them, so my questions are:
- is there any way to get feedback on if the game is happy with you capturing everything? The overview tab at the top doesn't have a count or any feedback that things have been achieved in this scenario
- is it even possible to win this one before the last turn or since it's a "hold at the end" do you have to always go to turn 25? If so then I think it's confusing that if you mouse over your prestige it does show the "X % bonus if you win the scenario on this turn" thing.

Any way to know for sure after turn 25 that the bonus objectives are considered as having been accomplished? I think I captured everything on the entire map and the only things left alive are a fortified position somewhere (one of those bunkers on the defensive line) and maybe a single enemy AT gun way to the north west.

Thanks!

#1 - it's a 'hold till the end' thing. Which means really there's no point to grabbing the last point until turn 25.

#2 - it makes it DOUBLY inconsistent because (as far as I know) it's the only mission I've encountered so far like this. Stalingrad uses the same wording for its objectives - but the battle ends instantly if you control all the bonus objectives. I finished Moscow turn 25 and had to survive one last soviet counterattack; I finished Stalingrad turn 26 and the mission ended.

Most of the Soviet conscripts just sat there on the docks across the river, and never bothered trying to go across. Not sure what triggers it was missing, or if a soviet "flood" only happens on higher difficulties.

#3 - There is no way to know for sure. You go to Kharkov '42 either way. It talks about the "soviet winter offensive" pushing you back either way. It would be nice if there was even just a short voice line to tell you you completed the bonus objective.
You can have it be a micro-branch: have it go to a 100% carbon copy of the scenario, except it has one more line in the briefing congratulating you on making it all the way to Noginsk, and noting that the german forces fell back to the gates of moscow rather than Rzhev.
