Fieseler Storch experience
Recon units improve their support bonus when they gain experience. Units gain experience when they fight in battle. The Fieseler Storch doesn't have an attack value. How should it improve its experience?

By taking time as a non-Storch.
Use it as a Stuka until it has 2 stars (after that it's pretty slow).
But is it worth it?
Not sure.
Can be done tho.

Re: Fieseler Storch experience
Right now, there is no way to gain exp on it, apart from taking lots of casualties, or upgrading from a different plane which already has experience. But I'll need to add some special rules, so that it could gain experience on its own. Any suggestions what to tie these rules to?

You could base that on the number of tiles it traversed.Rudankort wrote: ↑Tue Mar 24, 2020 11:37 amRight now, there is no way to gain exp on it, apart from taking lots of casualties, or upgrading from a different plane which already has experience. I'd say tie it to the recon bonus it gives in actual combat situations.Rudankort wrote: ↑Tue Mar 24, 2020 11:37 amRight now, there is no way to gain exp on it, apart from taking lots of casualties, or upgrading from a different plane which already has experience. Gain XP based on the action taking place below it.Rudankort wrote: ↑Tue Mar 24, 2020 11:37 amRight now, there is no way to gain exp on it, apart from taking lots of casualties, or upgrading from a different plane which already has experience. Re: Fieseler Storch experience
What about giving it the possibility to act as a Combat observer with control of indirect fire? Where as normal artillery has a fire range of 2 or 3 tiles, for example let it hover over a unit 5 tiles away from his air base and bomb it with the stats of a 10.5 cm battery. By this you would always try to have it based as near to the front as possible and it would be extremly helpful against those nasty AA batteries mostly stationed behind key citys or bunker lines. That's how I modded it in my own PC1 mod and at least I found it useful and fun for example in Moscow or El Alamein sccenarios. Just my 2 cents.
Re: Fieseler Storch experience
Or another idea. First I'd like to describe the tactical situation. You've got an enemy artillery exactly 4 tiles away from your own artillery, both with a range of 3 and behind a river and own infantry. As a crude sketch
--> Art Inf (River) Inf Art
As an artillery observer plane you could let your Fieseler hover over the enemy artillery and thus give your own artillery a +1 range boost. So you could rake the enemy artillery by indirect fire. The Fieseler would gain half the experience, your artillery would have gotten by firing the normal 3 tiles range. As for using the Fieseler in its normal reconnaisance role. It could gain a little portion of experience for every enemy unit it discovers that has been covered by fow.

I think the combination of these suggestions could provide enough experience to add a lot of fun to the recon plane.
I wonder if the same should be done with recon ground units? A recon unit that goes out hunting tanks is a lousy recon unit and should not be rewarded with experience. The experience should come from providing bonus to other units and eliminating badly damaged enemy units. Simular to the overrun from tanks.
Re: Fieseler Storch experience
I don't use recon planes to provide recon bonus so often. Instead I use them all the time to scout, because these is what these units are good for.
So, It should gain experience on every tile revealed.
Also It should gain experience for providing the recon bonus.
